The short answer

Dubai Fitness Challenge 2026 asks you to do 30 minutes of exercise a day for 30 days. It starts on Saturday 31 October and ends on Sunday 29 November 2026. This is the tenth year. It is free. There is no fitness test, and a 30-minute walk counts as much as a 10km run. Four big free events happen during the month: Dubai Ride (1 November), Dubai Stand Up Paddle (7–8 November), Dubai Run (22 November) and Dubai Yoga (29 November).

Dubai Fitness Challenge 2026 is a city-wide fitness campaign. The city asks every resident to move for 30 minutes a day, every day, for 30 days. That is where its other name comes from: 30×30.

You do not have to be fit. You do not pay anything. You do not have to prove what you did.

This page has every confirmed date, event, venue and cost. It also lists what Dubai has not announced yet, so you do not plan around old information.

Dubai Fitness Challenge 2026

Dubai Fitness Challenge 2026 runs for 30 days across the whole city. Two government bodies organise it: the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and Dubai Sports Council. It started in 2017. This is the tenth edition.

The rule is simple. Move for 30 minutes a day, for 30 days in a row.

  • Football, padel, cricket or any sport

There is no minimum speed and no minimum distance. Nobody checks on you.

Why the city does this

Dubai Fitness Challenge was launched in 2017 by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, then Crown Prince of Dubai. The stated aim was to make Dubai the most active city in the world. The bar is kept low on purpose, so that people who do not think of themselves as sporty will still join in.

Dubai Ride is a cycling event. You bring your own bicycle. Dubai closes Sheikh Zayed Road, the city’s main motorway, and thousands of people cycle down it.

It is not a race. There is no timing and no prize for finishing first. In 2025, a record 40,327 cyclists took part.

There are two routes. Pick one when you book.

What to bring: your own bicycle, a helmet, lights (it starts before sunrise) and water. Bike rental shops get very busy in late October, so book one early if you do not own a bike.

Not confirmed for 2026 yet

In 2025 there were five places to join the 12km route: Museum of the Future, Al Satwa, Coca-Cola Arena, Business Bay and Lower Financial Street. Dubai has not confirmed the 2026 entry points. Do not plan your morning around the 2025 list.

Stand up paddle, or SUP, means standing on a large floating board and pushing yourself along with a long paddle. It happens on the water at Hatta Dam, in the mountains about 90 minutes from central Dubai.

This is the easiest event for complete beginners, because everything is given to you when you arrive:

  • Board
  • Paddle
  • Life jacket
  • Safety briefing

Other activities run at the same time, so the trip is worth it even if paddling does not go well:

  • Kayaking, single and double
  • Sunset yoga by the water
  • SUP training for adults and families, with qualified coaches
  • Yoga on a paddleboard, once you can balance

What to bring: clothes you do not mind getting wet, a change of clothes, sunscreen and plenty of water. It runs over two days, so you can pick Saturday or Sunday.

Not confirmed for 2026 yet

Free shuttle buses from Dubai to Hatta ran in 2025. Dubai has not confirmed them for 2026, and no pick-up point has been published. This matters more here than at any other event, because Hatta is the only one outside the city. Check the official site before you decide how to get there.

Dubai Run is the biggest event of the month. Dubai closes Sheikh Zayed Road and hundreds of thousands of people run or walk down it. In 2025 more than 307,000 people took part. The official site calls it the world’s largest fun run.

You can run, jog or walk. There are two distances.

Two rules catch people out every year:

  1. You must register, even though it is free. The organisers need the numbers for safety planning.
  2. You must collect your bib and wear it. A bib is the paper number you pin to your shirt. Without one you will not be allowed onto the road.

What to bring: running shoes, your bib, and a light layer. November mornings in Dubai are cool before sunrise.

Try this now

Walk or jog one kilometre this weekend and time it. If that feels comfortable, you have 11 weeks to build up to 5km or 10km. Our guide to where to run in Dubai shows the shaded and indoor routes.

Not confirmed for 2026 yet

Road closure times, cut-off times and bib collection points have not been announced. The RTA usually publishes road closures a few days before. No official source says how many lanes of Sheikh Zayed Road are closed, so we are not printing a number.

Dubai Yoga 2026

Free

Dubai Yoga is a large group yoga class held on the grass at Zabeel Park. Instructors lead it from a stage. It is the final event of the challenge.

No experience is needed. It starts at 2:30pm, so it is the only big event that does not need an early alarm. Wellness activities run in the park during the afternoon before it starts.

In 2025 the park was divided into zones so people could choose where to sit:

  • A family zone
  • A women-only zone
  • An accessible zone for People of Determination, with experienced instructors

What to bring: a yoga mat or a towel, water, and clothes you can stretch in. Dubai has not confirmed the 2026 zones or the age rules yet.

A correction you will not read elsewhere

Many websites say Dubai Yoga started in 2024. Dubai’s own announcement of 12 August 2026 says so too. But three earlier government releases contradict this. Dubai DET called Dubai Yoga “brand-new” on 2 October 2025, and Dubai Media Office said “for the first time in DFC history” on 28 October 2025. Dubai Yoga started in 2025. 2026 is its second year.

Dubai Fitness Challenge 2026 Fees

Dubai Fitness Challenge 2026 is free. Joining costs nothing, and all four flagship events are free to enter.

Dubai RideFreeYes
Dubai Stand Up PaddleFreeYes
Dubai RunFreeYes
Dubai YogaFreeYes
Fitness Villages and Fitness HubsFreeNo
Classes run by gyms and studiosUsually free, but some chargeDepends on the class

Thousands of free classes run across the city during the 30 days. The one thing to watch is the last row. Some events are run by outside companies rather than by Dubai Fitness Challenge, and a few of those charge an entry fee. Check the listing before you turn up.

You do not need a gym membership to take part.

What “free” does not cover

Entry is free. Getting there and being ready is not. Budget for these:

  • Your bicycle for Dubai Ride. You bring your own. Rental shops charge for the day and get booked out in late October.
  • Getting to Hatta for Stand Up Paddle, if the free shuttle is not confirmed. That is a long drive, so count the fuel and Salik.
  • Parking near the start lines, where paid zones apply.
  • Running shoes, a yoga mat, and a helmet and lights for the ride.

None of that is a fee charged by Dubai Fitness Challenge. It is worth planning for anyway, because the events themselves cost nothing and the travel is what catches people out.

How to Join Dubai Fitness Challenge 2026

You join on the official website, dubaifitnesschallenge.com. It is free.

Important: booking for the four big events is not open yet

The general sign-up form is live now. But booking for Dubai Ride, Dubai Run, Dubai Stand Up Paddle and Dubai Yoga has not opened, and Dubai has not announced a date for it. In 2025, registration opened on 2 October, about four weeks before that year’s challenge began. Some websites list a 2026 registration date. No official source supports one.

Step by step

1
Sign up now
Go to dubaifitnesschallenge.com and fill in the short form. It takes about a minute. You will then be told when event booking opens.
2
Book your events when booking opens
Each of the four events needs its own separate booking. A place in one does not give you a place in another.
3
Joining as a group?
Companies, schools and community groups register as one team rather than one person at a time.
4
Start on 31 October
Do your 30 minutes. There is nothing to upload and nobody checking.

Is there a Dubai Fitness Challenge app?

No. Many websites tell you to register through an app. There is no app for 2026.

An official app did exist in earlier years, and Dubai promoted one as recently as 2019. But the official website now has no App Store or Google Play link on any page, and no 2026 government announcement mentions an app. Sign up on the website instead.

Dubai does work with other fitness apps you may already use. Sixteen were named as partners for 2025, including Technogym and Reebok Fitness.

Can visitors take part?

Yes. Every official description of Dubai Fitness Challenge includes visitors as well as residents.

If you are flying in for it, check the Dubai visa rules for UK citizens and direct flights to Dubai from the UK. For Dubai Ride and Dubai Run, staying in Downtown Dubai puts you within walking distance of both start lines.

What Dubai Has Not Announced Yet

Frequently Asked Questions

When is Dubai Fitness Challenge 2026?

Dubai Fitness Challenge 2026 starts on Saturday 31 October and ends on Sunday 29 November 2026. That is 30 days. Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism confirmed the dates on 12 August 2026. This is the tenth year of the challenge. The dates change every year, so do not assume last year’s dates will repeat.

Is Dubai Fitness Challenge 2026 free?

Yes. Joining Dubai Fitness Challenge 2026 is free, and all four flagship events are free to enter: Dubai Ride, Dubai Stand Up Paddle, Dubai Run and Dubai Yoga. Thousands of classes across the city are also free during the 30 days. The only exception is events run by outside companies, which sometimes charge their own entry fee. Check the listing before you go.

When does registration open for Dubai Run and Dubai Ride 2026?

No date has been announced. The general sign-up form on dubaifitnesschallenge.com is open now, but booking for the four flagship events had not opened as of 1 September 2026. Each official event page says details will be announced soon. In 2025, registration opened on 2 October, about four weeks before that challenge began. Registration is compulsory for Dubai Run even though it is free, because the organisers use the numbers for safety planning.

What are the four Dubai Fitness Challenge 2026 events?

Dubai Ride on Sunday 1 November at 6:00am, a cycling event on Sheikh Zayed Road and in Downtown Dubai. Dubai Stand Up Paddle on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November at 10:30am at Hatta Dam. Dubai Run on Sunday 22 November at 6:30am on Sheikh Zayed Road, with 5km and 10km routes. Dubai Yoga on Sunday 29 November at 2:30pm at Zabeel Park. All four are free and all four fall on a weekend.

Is there a Dubai Fitness Challenge app?

No. There is no Dubai Fitness Challenge app for 2026. An official app existed in earlier years and Dubai promoted one as recently as 2019, but the official website now carries no App Store or Google Play link on any page, and no 2026 government announcement mentions an app. Sign up on the website instead. Dubai does partner with other fitness apps, and sixteen were named for 2025.

Do you need to be fit to take part?

No. The daily target is 30 minutes of activity with no minimum speed and no minimum distance, so a 30-minute walk counts as much as a run. There is no fitness test. Dubai Ride is not a race and has a flat 4km family route. Dubai Yoga needs no previous experience. Dubai Run lets you walk the 5km if you prefer.
