The short answer
Dubai Ride 2026 is a mass cycling event on roads that are closed to cars. It will take place on Sunday 1 November 2026 and will start at 6:00am. There are two routes: the 12km Sheikh Zayed Route and the 4km Downtown Family Route. Entry is free, nobody times you, and you bring your own bike and helmet. 40,327 people rode in 2025. Registration is compulsory, and as of 2 September 2026 it has not opened. No booking link and no opening date has been published.
Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism has published the date, the start time, the two routes and the five start points for 2026. Almost everything else on this page is how the 2025 ride worked. Each of those is labelled as 2025, and we’ll replace it as DET publishes the 2026 detail.

Dubai Ride 2026
Dubai Ride 2026 is a cycling event on closed public roads. You ride your own bicycle along Sheikh Zayed Road, the highway that carries traffic through the middle of Dubai, while the cars are kept off it.
You bring the bike and you bring the helmet. Neither one’s handed out. In 2025 any bike with at least two wheels, working brakes and a roadworthy frame was accepted, and electric bikes were allowed. Scooters were not.
The gates open in the dark. You roll onto tarmac you normally see through a windscreen, with the Museum of the Future on one side and Burj Khalifa ahead of you.
In 2024 Dubai Police supercars led the start alongside a fleet of talabat riders, and in 2025 drummers and DJs played from the roadside while an LED sign flashed each rider’s speed back at them. That morning 40,327 people took part.
Who Organises Dubai Ride 2026
Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and Dubai Sports Council organise Dubai Ride, and Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, a DET body, delivers it on the ground. DP World is the presenting partner. It has held that place in every edition, including the first in 2020.
The official 2026 page calls this the sixth edition. WAM, the UAE state news agency, along with Khaleej Times and Gulf News, all called the 2025 event the sixth, and six rides have been held since 2020. Two official sources disagree, so this article does not number the edition.
Dubai Ride and Dubai Fitness Challenge 2026
Dubai Ride is one of four flagship days inside Dubai Fitness Challenge, the city campaign that asks residents for 30 minutes of activity a day for 30 days. The challenge will start on Saturday 31 October 2026 and finish on Sunday 29 November 2026. Dubai Ride will be day two, and it opens the calendar. Dubai Ride 2026 Date and Start Time
Dubai Ride 2026 will take place on Sunday 1 November 2026, and the ride will start at 6:00am. Both figures come from the official Dubai Fitness Challenge event page, which is where dubairide.com now sends you.
That start time is new. Every edition from 2023 to 2025 began at 6:15am, and the 2022 ride started earlier still, at 5:00am, so the hour has moved before. The 2026 page publishes 6:00am with no gate-opening or gate-closing time beside it, and no finish time either.
Not confirmed for 2026
Gate times are not confirmed as of 2 September 2026. In 2025 the gates opened at 6:15am and closed at 7:30am, and riders who arrived after that did not ride. Treat 6:00am as the moment the ride begins rather than the moment to arrive. We will update this section when Dubai Sports Council and the official Dubai Ride page publish the 2026 gate times.
Dubai Ride 2026 Routes
Dubai Ride 2026 will have two routes. The Sheikh Zayed Route is 12km and the Downtown Family Route is 4km. Both are confirmed for 2026, and neither has a published map.
Dubai Ride 2026 Sheikh Zayed Route (12 km)
The 12km route is the one that puts you on Sheikh Zayed Road. The official 2026 page describes it as a challenging route for experienced cyclists, passing the Museum of the Future, the Dubai Water Canal and Burj Khalifa. In 2025 you chose your start point when you booked, and the 2026 page publishes the same five.

How it worked in 2025
The 12km went from Dubai World Trade Centre to Safa Park and back, including a climb over the Dubai Canal Bridge. Riders were told to finish at the gate they started from, because the course is an out and back. The 2026 course is not confirmed as of 2 September 2026. The five start points are published; the start and finish lines are not. We will update this section when the official Dubai Ride page publishes the 2026 route map.
Dubai Ride 2026 Downtown Family Route (4 km)
The 4km route is flat and stays in Downtown Dubai. It passes Dubai Mall, Dubai Opera and Burj Khalifa. The official 2026 page calls it suitable for all ages and abilities, and this is the route young children ride on their own bikes.
No third route and no new distance have been published for 2026. Speed Laps, the early fast session for over-21s that ran in 2024 and 2025, appears nowhere on the 2026 pages. It hasn’t been confirmed or cancelled, so don’t build your morning around it.

Dubai Ride 2026 Registration
Registration for Dubai Ride 2026 is not open. As of 2 September 2026 no opening date has been announced, and no official page carries a working booking link.
Registering is compulsory. The official 2026 page’s own answer is that all participants must register, and that details on how to register will be announced soon.
- dubairide.com now redirects to the Dubai Fitness Challenge event page. The standalone Dubai Ride site has been retired for this cycle: every address on it, including the old register and need-to-know pages, forwards to dubaifitnesschallenge.com/en/dubai-ride.
- The Dubai Fitness Challenge event page shows Register buttons that go nowhere. The labels sit on the page and the links behind them are empty.
- The general Dubai Fitness Challenge sign-up is live, and it is not Dubai Ride entry. It’ll add you to the mailing list for the 30-day campaign, which our Dubai Fitness Challenge 2026 guide explains in full. It doesn’t give you a place on the road.

Booking has opened about a month before race day in each of the last two years. In 2025 it opened on Friday 3 October, thirty days before the ride. In 2024 it opened on Thursday 10 October, thirty-one days before. That is two years of evidence, both dated by the organisers themselves, and it’s a pattern rather than a promise.
One date in circulation is the wrong one. The 2 October 2025 sign-up was the general Dubai Fitness Challenge list, and Dubai Ride booking opened the day after it.
Not confirmed for 2026
Registration has not opened as of 2 September 2026. In 2025 it opened on 3 October at dubairide.com, thirty days before the ride. No closing date has ever been published for Dubai Ride, in any year. We will update this section when Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, or the official Dubai Ride page, opens 2026 booking.
How to Join Dubai Ride 2026
To join Dubai Ride 2026 you’ll register online, collect a numbered bib before the day, and arrive at your chosen gate with the bike, the helmet and the bib. Step one is the one everybody is waiting on, because booking hasn’t opened.
Who Can Register for Dubai Ride 2026
The official 2026 page sets out who registers, and how:
- Children under 13. An adult over 21 adds them to their own registration.
- Riders aged 13 to 21. They register individually, with parental or guardian consent.
- People of Determination. Welcome on both routes, with dedicated support entry points for adapted bikes, handcycles and tandem bikes. In 2025 there was an email address for route detail and the location of that start area, and it has not been republished for 2026.
There’s no published minimum age for either route in 2026. In 2021 the long route was open to riders of 10 and above, and children as young as five rode the 4km on their own bikes. We will update this when the official Dubai Ride page publishes the 2026 rules.
Dubai Ride 2026 Bib Collection
You’ll collect your bib before race day, not on the morning. It’s a numbered paper bib, and every participant has to wear one.
In 2025 bibs were collected at the 30×30 Fitness Village in Zabeel Park, from 29 October to 1 November. The 2026 collection point is not announced.
How it worked in 2025
Bibs were handed out at the Dubai Municipality 30×30 Fitness Village in Zabeel Park, from 29 October to 1 November, with the ride on 2 November. Hours were 16:00 to 23:00 on the Wednesday and Thursday, 12:00 to 23:00 on the Friday and 08:00 to 23:00 on the Saturday. You brought your registration QR code. Nothing has been announced for 2026 as of 2 September 2026. Zabeel Park was the venue in 2024 and in 2025, and the 2026 fitness village locations are unpublished. We will update this section when DET and DFRE announce collection.
Speed Laps carried its own separate bib in 2025. Riders who did the fast session and then the main ride carried both of them.
Dubai Ride 2026 Fees
Dubai Ride 2026 will be free. The official 2026 page calls it a free event. The Government of Dubai Media Office has called it the region’s largest community cycling event since 2022.

What Dubai Ride 2026 Free Entry Does Not Cover
Free entry covers the ride itself. These are the costs it doesn’t cover.
- Your bike and your helmet. Both are yours to supply, and the helmet was mandatory in 2025.
- Salik. On the 2025 ride morning the peak toll rose to Dh6 a gate between 06:00 and 10:00, up from Dh4. Salik has published nothing for 1 November 2026.
- Parking. Paid public car parks. No Dubai Ride source has ever addressed parking, and no free-parking concession has been announced.
- Metro fare. Standard nol fares apply, and no free travel has been announced in any year.
- A second trip across town. In 2025 the bib had to be collected on a different day, in a different part of the city.
- Your own water. No hydration station has been named in any Dubai Ride source, so you’ll want a bottle on the bike.
Dubai Ride 2026 Road Closures
Sheikh Zayed Road will close for Dubai Ride 2026. RTA has issued no notice and no timings for 1 November 2026, and in 2025 the advisory landed two days before the ride.
The road you’d drive on is the course, so the closure matters even if you never touch a bike.

Dubai Ride 2026 Road Closure Times
Two closure windows were published for 2025, both attributed to RTA. Khaleej Times gave 3:30am to 10:30am. Gulf News gave 3:00am to 10:00am. The finish is disputed in the same way. RTA’s own release said the routes conclude at 8:00am. Gulf News and The National both put 8:15am on the roads reopening, which does not square with the 10:00am and 10:30am reopenings in the RTA closure windows the same outlets published. Either way, the road was shut for about seven hours.

RTA publishes the closed segments, not a junction-by-junction list. No exit-by-exit closure has ever been issued for Dubai Ride, in any year.
Not confirmed for 2026
RTA has issued nothing for 1 November 2026 as of 2 September. In 2025 the notice came on 31 October, two days before the ride, and diversion maps went out on RTA’s own platforms. We will update this section when RTA publishes the 2026 advisory, and when Salik publishes the race-day tariff.
How to Get to Dubai Ride 2026
You’ll reach Dubai Ride 2026 on the bike, on the metro or in a car. RTA and Careem made bike rental free for participants in 2025, and RTA noted that Careem Bike stations sit close to the event entrances. Nothing about 2026 transport has been announced.
The 2025 Careem offer waived the extra-time fee on rides over 45 minutes inside that window, and card details were taken as security with no rental charge applied. It was the fourth year of that partnership. RTA is an association partner again in 2026, and no offer has been announced.

Not confirmed for 2026
Transport arrangements are not announced as of 2 September 2026. In 2025 the metro opened at 3:00am and ran to midnight, and Careem Bikes were free for riders between 3:00am and 8:00am. We will update this section when RTA publishes the 2026 metro hours and confirms whether the free-bike offer returns.
Dubai Ride 2026 Rules and What to Bring
Dubai Ride 2026 will have a short list of rules, and most of them are about the bike.
- Bring your own bike. In 2025 any type was permitted, as long as it had at least two wheels, working brakes and a safe, roadworthy frame.
- Electric bikes were allowed. Scooters were not.
- Wear a helmet. It was mandatory in 2025 and it has never been supplied.
- Wear your numbered bib. Riders doing Speed Laps carried a second one and had to have both on them.
- Ride at a comfortable pace. Keep to the speed limits on the route and follow the marshals.
The official 2026 page states the point of the morning plainly. This is a community event, it isn’t a timed race, and the focus is on enjoying it. There’s no result, no position and no finishing time.
No 2026 event waiver has been published. In previous cycles registration carried a liability and publicity release, and nothing equivalent is live as of 2 September 2026.
The helmet rule, the bike rules and the scooter ban appear on no 2026 page, and the old dubairide.com pages that carried them now redirect to the Dubai Fitness Challenge event page. We will update this section when DET republishes them.
Dubai Ride Participation Numbers
Dubai Ride has set a record in every edition held. More than 20,000 people rode the first one in 2020, and 40,327 rode in 2025.

Two caveats sit under that table: every figure comes from the organisers, and none has been audited independently. The 2022 release also looked back at 2021 as around 33,000, while the 2021 release gave 32,750, and we use 32,750.
The field has roughly doubled in six editions.
Dubai Ride 2026 Details Not Yet Announced

Is Dubai Ride 2026 free?

It does not cover the bike or the helmet, which are yours to bring. It does not cover Salik, which rose to Dh6 a gate during the 2025 morning peak, standard nol fares, paid parking, or the separate trip to collect your bib. No water station has ever been named on a Dubai Ride route, so carry your own bottle.
