Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism and Dubai Sports Council organise it, and the RTA presents it. Every slot was booked in 2025.
For the Dubai Stand Up Paddle 2026, which is a part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, so far four things have been published: the dates, the 10:30am start, free entry and compulsory registration. Everything else on this page is how the event worked in 2025, and each of those carries its year. The Department of Economy and Tourism named Dubai Stand Up Paddle a 2026 flagship in August, without the dates.

Dubai Stand Up Paddle 2026
Dubai Stand Up Paddle is a free paddleboarding event held on the reservoir behind Hatta Dam. A paddleboard is a long, wide, flat board, much thicker and more buoyant than a surfboard, which is what lets it carry a standing adult without sinking.
How you actually move a paddleboard
You stand upright on the board, roughly over the middle, and move along with one long-handled paddle. Kite N Surf, a Dubai school that teaches this year-round, sets the stroke out like this.
- Put the blade in the water ahead of you, on one side.
- Pull it back past your feet, then lift it out.
- Swap sides every four or five strokes to keep the board straight.
- Drive the stroke by twisting your torso, not by pulling with your arms.
Most people worry about the balancing rather than the paddling. Hatta Dam is an enclosed reservoir ringed by the Hajar Mountains, so there’s no swell and no surf pushing the board about.
Standing up on the board for the first time
You start on your knees and stand one foot at a time. Kite N Surf reckons most people are standing and moving within a few minutes.
- Kneel first, just behind the centre of the board.
- Bring one foot up, then the other, with your knees soft.
- Look at the mountains, not down at your feet.
- If you go in, go in sideways, away from the board.
- Collect the board first, then the paddle.
Swimming at Hatta Dam is banned by law, a rule Hatta Kayak publishes on its own site. You’ll be on the water rather than in it, and a life jacket is issued to everyone.
Who runs Dubai Stand Up Paddle 2026
Two government bodies organise it, and a private operator runs the water sports at the dam every day of the year.

Dubai Fitness Challenge describes the training sessions as fun sessions with no racing or competitive elements. That line covers the sessions only. Other things have run alongside them, and not all of them have been restated for 2026.

Dubai Stand Up Paddle 2026 Dates and Times
Dubai Stand Up Paddle 2026 will take place on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November 2026, starting at 10:30am on each of the two days at Hatta Dam.
Start times on the Dubai Fitness Challenge event pages, seen 3 September 2026. No finish time is published for any of the four.
The Dubai Fitness Challenge website carries the dates and the time, and Time Out Dubai and What’s On have both restated them.
DET’s August press release names Dubai Stand Up Paddle as a 2026 flagship, but gives dates only for Dubai Ride, Dubai Run and Dubai Yoga. The weekend rests on the event’s own page, not on a government release.
Dubai Stand Up Paddle 2026 starts at 10:30am
The Dubai Fitness Challenge event page gives a 10:30am start for both days, in a panel directly under the 7–8 November dates. The same page template carries 6:00am for Dubai Ride, 6:30am for Dubai Run and 2:30pm for Dubai Yoga. No finish time has been published for 2026 as of 3 September 2026, so there is nothing official telling you how late the last board goes out. We will update this section when Dubai Fitness Challenge publishes a finish time.
Hatta Kayak hires out six craft at the dam all year: kayaks, water bikes, a yellow boat, a donut boat, a tour boat and a VIP boat. A paddleboard appears on neither its own list nor Visit Hatta’s.
On those published lists, 7 and 8 November will be the only dates in 2026 when a board is supplied at the dam. No source states that outright.
Dubai Stand Up Paddle 2026 Editions and Turnout
This will be the fourth edition. Turnout has roughly doubled at every one of them, which is why the organisers, DET and Dubai Sports Council, stretched the event from one day to two in 2025.

Gulf News reported the reason for the second day as overwhelming demand. Time Out Dubai calls 2026 the third year, and that does not match the government ordinals: the Government of Dubai Media Office labelled 2024 the second edition and 2025 the third, which makes 2026 the fourth.
Dubai Stand Up Paddle 2026 Registration
Registration is compulsory, and the event is still free. Dubai Fitness Challenge puts it plainly on the event page: everyone taking part has to register, and registration is required for safety and security reasons.
Where booking will open, as far as anyone has said
Time Out Dubai reports that 2026 SUP registration will run through dubaifitnesschallenge.com. The general 30×30 registration page there is live as of 3 September 2026, and Khaleej Times reported that sign-up as open in August. Dubai Fitness Challenge has not yet published a separate SUP booking form. In 2025 booking ran through a dedicated site, dubaistanduppaddle.ae. No opening date for 2026 slots has been published. What happened to the 2025 slots
Late in 2025 the official page carried the line that all slots for Dubai SUP had been booked. That was after DET and Dubai Sports Council had already doubled the event to two days. No capacity figure has ever been published for any edition, so there’s no number to judge your chances against.
Do not drive out on the chance of a slot
No official page says walk-ups will be refused, but registration is stated as required for every participant and last year’s slots ran out. Hatta is a 230km round trip, which is a long way to drive to be turned away at a gate. In 2025 the practical detail landed in the confirmation email rather than on the website, shuttle bus arrangements included. Keep that email once it arrives.
Dubai Stand Up Paddle 2026 Fees
Entry does not cost anything. Dubai Fitness Challenge lists Dubai Stand Up Paddle as free, and The National and the Government of Dubai Media Office recorded it as free in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
What free covers
The Media Office described the 2025 offer as free equipment plus free shuttle transport from central Dubai. What that covers, on the published wording:
- The board, the paddle and the life jacket, handed out at the water’s edge in 2025, with no deposit mentioned anywhere
- A short safety briefing before going out, and coaching from certified instructors during the session (2025 wording)
- Shuttle buses from Dubai, which Time Out Dubai reports will run free and regularly across both days in 2026
- Kayaking sessions, free and first come, first served in 2025. Gulf News reported single kayaks as limited to 17 and over that year; Hatta Kayak’s own year-round rule is 16 and over
Every line on that list comes from Dubai Fitness Challenge’s own 2025 wording or from the Government of Dubai Media Office. Only the shuttle buses have been restated for 2026, and that restatement is Time Out Dubai’s.
Entry, equipment and the shuttle bus are free. Fuel, food and any overnight stay are not.
What Free Does Not Cover at Hatta Dam
Entry costs nothing, but the day out will cost you something. Hatta sits 115km from the city, so the driving and the eating will come to more than anything that happens at the water. No official page puts a figure on the fuel, the food or the parking.

Hatta Dam and Hatta Wadi Hub are not the same place
People mix up the two, and they are a different place with a different entrance.
Dubai Fitness Challenge runs a Hatta Wadi 30×30 Fitness Hub as its own separate listing, and the ziplines, archery and wall climbing all sit there. Dubai Stand Up Paddle 2026 will run at the dam.

There are three ways in, and only one of them has a published price.

Driving to Hatta Dam
Most people drive, and the road makes that simple. Visit Hatta puts Hatta at 115km from the city, and Visit Dubai gives the drive as about 90 minutes. The quickest run is the Sharjah–Kalba route along the E102.
Hatta is 115km from Dubai (Visit Hatta), about a 90-minute drive. By bus: the H02 to Hatta Bus Station, then the H204.
Every road to the dam is paved, so a normal saloon car gets there without trouble, and Hatta Kayak notes that no ID is needed on the Kalba–Maliha Road.
In 2025 there were designated parking areas at the dam with marshals waving arrivals into spaces. Dubai Fitness Challenge hasn’t restated that for 2026.
The free shuttle buses from Dubai
Free shuttle buses will run across both days, according to Time Out Dubai’s August 2026 report. Dubai Fitness Challenge hasn’t published a 2026 pickup point. Only Time Out names one: the One Central free parking lot beside Dubai World Trade Centre. That is also where the shuttles left from in 2025.
In 2025 the joining details went out in the confirmation email rather than on the website, subject to availability on the day.
By RTA bus, if you have no car
Public transport also reaches the dam without a car, in two legs.
Visit Hatta publishes the AED 25 fare, and no official page carries the departure times to go with it. Commercial timetable sites report a last H02 around 7pm and roughly two-hourly service, so check rta.ae before you rely on that.
Look up the return coach first, because a taxi from Hatta back to the city is a 115km fare.
What to Bring to Dubai Stand Up Paddle 2026
Very little, because the organisers supply the equipment. For 2025 the Dubai Fitness Challenge event page asked participants to bring five things, and no 2026 list has replaced it yet:
- A towel
- A change of clothes
- Waterproof sunscreen
- A cap or visor
- A small bag for essentials while you are on the water
That same 2025 page also asked female participants to wear shorts over swimsuits or bikinis, in line with cultural sensitivity. Assume you’ll get wet whether or not you fall in, which is why the change of clothes sits on the list.
Hatta Kayak publishes free lockers at the dam, though no page says whether they’ll be open to event participants.
Bringing your own board to Hatta Dam
Hatta Kayak’s site bars private water sports equipment at the dam, as a year-round trading rule. That rule was not applied at the event in 2023.

- What happened in 2023: The National reported that participants completed the challenge either on their own stand-up paddle boards or on borrowed kit from Hatta Kayak.
- For 2026: no event rule has been published either way, so ask when you register rather than loading a board into the car on trust.
Who Can Take Part in Dubai Stand Up Paddle 2026
Age rules: 2025’s, not 2026’s
In 2025, Dubai Fitness Challenge published two rules: children under six could not take part, and anyone over six and under 21 had to be accompanied by an adult. Note the guardian age is 21, not 18. The floor has moved before. The National reported the 2023 event as open to anyone aged five and above. No 2026 age rule has been published as of 3 September 2026, and Dubai Fitness Challenge will confirm it on the event page. If you are booking for a five-year-old, wait for that page rather than for this one.
Beyond age, the event is deliberately open. Dubai Fitness Challenge describes it as suiting all ages and abilities, from novices to pros. Life jackets are issued to everyone, and no swimming-ability requirement has been published for any edition.
- Spectators — no policy has been published. The Government of Dubai Media Office reported record numbers of spectators in 2024, so they do attend. Attending and being permitted are not the same thing on paper.
- A weight limit on a board — nothing published, for any edition.
- Dogs — covered only by Hatta Kayak’s year-round rule on Visit Hatta, which allows one if you keep full control of it, put a life vest on it and keep it inside the kayak. No event-specific pet rule has been published.
People of Determination at Hatta Dam
People of Determination were explicitly welcomed in 2025. Dubai Fitness Challenge and Gulf News, quoting the organisers, named adaptive water activities, safe access points and multi-person kayaks run by trained staff.
That provision hasn’t yet been restated for 2026. We’ll update this section when Dubai Fitness Challenge publishes the 2026 detail.

The dam holds a reservoir, not a stretch of sea, and that changes what the paddling feels like. The water sits enclosed between the Hajar Mountains, with no tide and no waves coming at you.

Hatta runs cooler than coastal Dubai, because the mountains sit well above sea level, and travel guides consistently report mornings there needing a light layer the city doesn’t.
Nobody authoritative puts a number on it, and the National Centre of Meteorology publishes nothing specific to Hatta.
What NCM has published for November
In a seasonal forecast published on 8 June 2026, the National Centre of Meteorology put the probability of El Niño conditions between July and November 2026 at 98%. Temperatures and rainfall were expected near to above seasonal averages. NCM updates its ENSO status monthly, so check the current outlook nearer the event. Separately, NCM’s general November climatology puts both maximum and minimum temperatures 4 to 6°C below October (NCM via Gulf News, November 2024). NCM publishes a five-day bulletin, which will tell you far more about the weekend of 7 November than any annual average can.
Dubai Stand Up Paddle 2026 and Dubai Fitness Challenge 2026
Dubai Stand Up Paddle is one of four free flagship events inside Dubai Fitness Challenge 2026. That 30×30 campaign will run from 31 October to 29 November 2026, its tenth edition. DET reports more than 16 million participations across the first nine. The four events are spread across the month:
- Dubai Ride, Sunday 1 November 2026, cycling on Sheikh Zayed Road
- Dubai Stand Up Paddle, Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November 2026, Hatta Dam
- Dubai Run, Sunday 22 November 2026, 5km and 10km on closed roads
- Dubai Yoga, Sunday 29 November 2026, Zabeel Park
The four flagship dates inside the 30×30 month, as published by Dubai Fitness Challenge and DET. The weekend of 14–15 November carries none of them.
Far fewer people go to Hatta than to the other three, and the 2025 booking still closed with every slot taken.
