Life moves faster in Dubai. Understanding it should too.
Dubai Fast Living exists because most of what is written about this city is written for people who have never been. It is either a brochure or a warning. Neither helps when you are trying to work out what a visa actually costs, whether school is open tomorrow, or what the fees are on top of an asking price.
So this is the other thing: what changed, what it costs, and what you need to do about it — written by someone who has to live with the answer.
Who writes it
Habibti in Dubai writes the site. Dubai-based, and the reason most of the guides exist is that she needed them first and could not find them. You can find her on Instagram.
How we work
- We say when we do not know. A guide that guesses at a fee is worse than no guide, because you will budget from it.
- We update rather than republish. Prices, rules and term dates change. Pages that track them keep one address and move with the facts, instead of leaving eight versions of the same answer online, seven of them wrong.
- Paid work is labelled as paid. Every time, at the top of the page. What we will and will not do is written down on Be featured rather than negotiated case by case.
- We ask before we measure. We count page views, we say so on Privacy, and readers in the UK and EU are asked first — with refusing exactly as easy as agreeing.
Getting things wrong
We will. Dubai changes rules faster than anywhere either of us has lived, and some of these pages cover things a government department announced three days ago. If you find something out of date or simply wrong, tell us — corrections get made the same week, and we say on the page that it changed.
