This is journalism, not advice

Everything here is general information about living in Dubai. It is researched carefully and corrected when it is wrong, but it is not legal, financial, tax, immigration, medical or investment advice, and it is not a substitute for someone qualified who knows your situation.

That matters most on the pages people arrive at with a decision already half-made: visas, property, school fees, company formation. Rules in the UAE change quickly and often without much notice. Before you act on a number from this site — especially one you are budgeting from — check it against the relevant authority or a professional.

The calculators

The tools on this site estimate. They run entirely in your browser, they use typical figures rather than your actual circumstances, and they do not know about your particular bank, landlord, school or free zone. Treat every output as a starting point for a conversation, not a quotation.

Accuracy and corrections

We do not guarantee that everything here is current or complete, because we cannot. What we do promise is that we will correct anything shown to be wrong, promptly, and say on the page that it changed. If you find an error, tell us.

What belongs to whom

You are welcome to quote a short passage with a link back — that is how the web is supposed to work. You may not republish whole articles, copy the guides, or use this material to train a model without written permission.

If you send us something — a submission, a photograph, a message — you keep it. You give us permission to use it for the purpose you sent it for, and nothing beyond that.

Using the site properly

Do not attack the site, scrape it at a volume that degrades it for other people, submit other people’s details to any form here, or use the directory or enquiry forms to send advertising. We block and delete on sight, and keep the records needed to do so.

Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury or fraud, because that cannot be limited and should not be.

If these terms change

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the federal laws of the United Arab Emirates and the laws of the Emirate of Dubai. Any dispute goes to the courts of Dubai. If you are a consumer in a country whose law gives you rights that cannot be contracted away, you keep those rights.
