Pumpkin Patches and Pumpkin Carving in Dubai
Dubai doesn't have pumpkin farms where you pick pumpkins from a field. This Halloween, there will be one pumpkin patch where children choose and paint a pumpkin, two places where they can carve a real one, and a pumpkin patch made of LEGO. Here they are, best first.
1. Pick and Paint Pumpkin Patch, The Garden Project, Emirates Hills
The Garden Project is an outdoor food and family space on the lawn at Address Montgomerie. From 23 October, it will run the only proper pumpkin patch in Dubai this Halloween. Children choose a pumpkin, paint it, and take it home. There will also be a pumpkin-shaped bouncy castle and other play areas.
Children will paint the pumpkins, not carve them, so this suits toddlers and young children best. Book a time slot in advance, because there are only a limited number of pumpkins each day. The organiser hasn't said whether the pumpkins are real or artificial, so ask when you book if that matters to you.
2. Pumpkin Carving at Al Barari Playground Halloween
Al Barari Playground will hold a Halloween weekend in its gardens with several creative workshops. One of them will be pumpkin carving, from AED 60, which makes it the easiest way for children to carve a real pumpkin without the mess at home. With the haunted house and the maze, it can fill a whole afternoon for older children.
Children under 3 get in free, which helps if you're bringing a younger brother or sister.
3. Pumpkin Carving at the City Walk Halloween Event
City Walk will hold a Halloween event on 31 October, and pumpkin carving will be one of the activities, along with crafts and face painting. It's a good stop on Halloween day if you live in Al Wasl or Jumeirah. The times and prices haven't been published yet, so check the page during Halloween week.
4. Scarecrow's Pumpkin Patch, Legoland Dubai
Legoland's pumpkin patch doesn't have real pumpkins. Children build their own pumpkin from LEGO or DUPLO bricks and add it to the patch. It's a fun extra if you're already spending the day at Legoland, but it isn't worth buying a ticket just for this.
Our pick: for children under six, choose The Garden Project, because painting is safer than carving and the bouncy castle will keep them busy. For older children who want to carve, choose Al Barari, where they can use real tools on a real pumpkin and you won't have to clean up.
Some pumpkin patches from past years, such as the ones at Town Square and Expo City, haven't announced anything for 2026. If they do, we will add them here.
Where to Buy a Pumpkin to Carve in Dubai
Dubai supermarkets sell two kinds of pumpkin. For carving, you need the round orange Halloween pumpkin, which is hollow inside with a thin, firm skin. The cheaper red, white and yellow pumpkins sold by the kilo are for cooking. They are often sold already cut, and they don't carve well.
5. Lulu Hypermarket
Lulu sells the cheapest whole carving pumpkin we found in Dubai. Its Halloween pumpkin from Spain costs AED 39.95, and its carving kit costs AED 15, which is also the cheapest. So you can buy everything you need to carve for under AED 55.
6. Kibsons
Kibsons is an online fruit and vegetable shop that delivers to your door. It has the widest choice of pumpkin sizes, so it's the best place to buy a big pumpkin for your front door. A small one costs about AED 18 to AED 30 per kilo, depending on its exact weight. That's cheaper per kilo than the other shops that sell by weight.
7. Fresh Leaf
Fresh Leaf is another online grocery shop. It's useful if you want a pumpkin of an exact size, from a 1 kg pumpkin for the table to a 10 kg one for display. At AED 32 per kilo, the bigger sizes cost more than at Kibsons, but the small ones are good value.
8. Spinneys
Choose Spinneys if you'd like a pumpkin grown in the UAE. Its large orange carving pumpkins come from greenhouses in Al Ain, where they were planted in July for Halloween. The price isn't on the website, so check in a store or in the app.
9. Waitrose
Waitrose sells giant pumpkins and white pumpkins for decorating. Expect to pay almost AED 100 for one.
10. Amazon.ae for Carving Kits and Fake Pumpkins
Amazon doesn't sell real pumpkins, but it has the biggest choice of carving kits and fake pumpkins. Foam pumpkins are a good idea for toddlers, because they can paint one and it won't go bad after a few days.
How Much Does a Pumpkin Cost in Dubai?
A carving pumpkin costs from AED 39.95 at Lulu to about AED 209 for a 7 to 9 kg pumpkin from Kibsons. Mini pumpkins for the table start at AED 8.50, and a basic carving kit costs between AED 15 and AED 39.
Is a pumpkin patch worth it, or should you carve at home? We added up the costs for a family with two children:
Carving at home is by far the cheapest. A pumpkin patch costs more, but you're paying for an afternoon out as well as the pumpkin. If you want one big pumpkin for the front door, it's cheaper to buy by the kilo, and Kibsons is the best value for the larger sizes:
How Long Does a Carved Pumpkin Last in Dubai?
A carved pumpkin lasts about three to five days, and less in hot weather. Dubai is still warm at the end of October, so when you carve it matters more here than in cooler countries.
Some people dip the carved pumpkin in a weak bleach solution (one part bleach to nine parts water) to stop mould growing. If you do this, keep it away from small children and wash your hands afterwards. A painted pumpkin lasts much longer than a carved one.
