Here are five speeches, each for a different age and length: kindergarten, lower primary, upper primary, secondary, and an opening for teachers and principals. After them come five tips for giving the speech well.

1. UAE Flag Day Speech for Kindergarten (ages 4 to 6), 30 seconds

Kindergarten (ages 4 to 6)
30 seconds · about 46 words

Good morning, everyone!

Today is UAE Flag Day. Look at our flag. It has four colours: red, green, white and black.

I love the UAE. It is my home. Today we raise our flag high, and we say thank you to our country.

2. UAE Flag Day Speech for Lower primary (ages 6 to 9), 1 minute

Lower primary (ages 6 to 9)
1 minute · about 132 words

Good morning, teachers and friends.

Today is the third of November, UAE Flag Day. All over the country, at the same time, people are raising the flag at schools, offices and homes. And today, we are raising it together.

Our flag has four colours, and each one means something. Green is for growth. White is for kindness and good deeds. Black is for strength. And red is for the people who worked hard and gave so much before us.

The UAE flag was first raised on the second of December 1971, the day our country was born. Since then, it has flown over seven emirates and millions of people from all over the world.

Today, let us stand tall, sing our anthem and be proud of our flag.

Happy UAE Flag Day!

3. UAE Flag Day Speech for Upper primary (ages 9 to 12), 2 minutes

Upper primary (ages 9 to 12)
2 minutes · about 235 words

Good morning, respected principal, teachers and dear friends.

Today is UAE Flag Day, and this year is the 14th time we celebrate it. Flag Day was started by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and it is held on the third of November because that is the day the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan became President of the UAE in 2004.

Do you know who designed our flag? It was a young Emirati called Abdullah Mohammed Al Maainah. He was only 19 years old. In 1971 he saw a competition in the newspaper, made his design with coloured paper and scissors, and sent it in. More than a thousand people entered. His design won. He did not even know he had won until he saw his flag going up on the second of December 1971.

That story tells us something important: one young person with an idea can leave a mark on a whole country.

Our flag's colours carry a message too. Green stands for growth and prosperity. White stands for good deeds and generosity. Black stands for strength and courage. And red stands for the sacrifices of the generations before us.

So today, when the flag goes up, let us remember what it asks of us: to grow, to be kind, to be strong and to never forget those who built this country.

Thank you, and happy UAE Flag Day!

4. UAE Flag Day Speech for Secondary (ages 12 to 18), 3 minutes

Secondary (ages 12 to 18)
3 minutes · about 350 words

Good morning, respected principal, teachers and fellow students.

At this moment, across seven emirates, the same flag is rising on schools, offices, ministries and homes. It is the 14th UAE Flag Day, and we are part of something that happens all at once, from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah.

Flag Day began in 2013, at the call of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Its date, the third of November, marks the day in 2004 when the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan became President. So this day honours not only a flag, but the leaders who carried this country forward.

The flag itself was born with the nation. On the second of December 1971, the day the union was declared, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan raised it for the first time. Eight days later it flew at the United Nations in New York, telling the world that a new country had arrived.

Behind that flag is a young man's story. Abdullah Mohammed Al Maainah was 19 when he entered a newspaper competition with a design made from coloured paper. About 1,030 designs were sent in. His was chosen, and he only found out when he saw it rise above the palace.

Each colour has a meaning. Red recalls the sacrifices of earlier generations. Green stands for growth and prosperity. White for good deeds and generosity. Black for strength, resilience and courage.

But a flag is more than its colours. It means something because of the people who live under it. Here in the UAE, that means people from more than two hundred nationalities, studying, working and building side by side. When we raise this flag, we are saying that we belong to that story, and that we will add to it.

So as the flag goes up today, let us ask ourselves a simple question: what will I do to make it proud? Maybe it is working harder in class, helping someone who needs it, or simply being kind. Big countries are built from small actions.

Thank you, and happy UAE Flag Day.

5. UAE Flag Day Speech for Teachers and principals (opening the assembly, 2 minutes)

For teachers and principals: opening the assembly
2 minutes · about 213 words

Good morning, dear students, colleagues and parents.

Welcome to our UAE Flag Day assembly. In a few moments, together with millions of people across the country, we will raise our flag at exactly the same time. It is one of the few moments in the year when the whole nation does one thing together, and I am glad we are doing it as a school family.

Flag Day was started by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and this is the 14th year we mark it. The date, the third of November, recalls the day in 2004 when the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan became President.

Our flag was raised for the first time on the second of December 1971 by the late Sheikh Zayed. It was designed by a 19-year-old, which I like to remind our students of: great things do not wait until we are grown up.

Our school, like our country, is made of many nationalities. The flag does not ask where we come from. It asks what we will give. So today, let us honour it with respect, with pride and with a promise to be good members of this community.

Please stand for the raising of the flag and our national anthem.

Thank you.

How to Give a UAE Flag Day Speech

A good speech is mostly about delivery. These five tips help any child, from kindergarten up, speak with confidence.

Five tips for giving the speech
🗓️
Say the date
Start with "Today is the third of November, UAE Flag Day" so everyone knows why you are speaking.
🐢
Go slowly
Pause after each sentence. Nervous speakers go too fast; slow sounds confident.
🇦🇪
Point to the flag
When you mention the colours, look at the flag. It helps the audience follow.
🗣️
Practise aloud twice
Read it aloud at home twice. Once is not enough to feel easy.
⏱️
Time it
Use a phone timer. If it runs long, cut a paragraph rather than speaking faster.

If your class also needs a quiz or activities for the day, see our UAE Flag Day quiz and flashcards and UAE Flag Day activities for school, kindergarten and home. Many assemblies end with the national anthem, and our guide to the UAE national anthem lyrics has the words in Arabic and English.
