The Lulu Onam Sadya is the cheapest full sadhya you can get in the UAE this year. To help you, we have set out the price, the whole menu and both ways to buy it. You can work out your total for the family with the calculator below.

One box costs Dh38.90 and holds 24 items. That is around a fifth of what the Downtown hotel restaurants charge.

There is one catch to know before you plan around it. The online pre-order ran with a single delivery window, so the store counter is your route now.

How Do You Order Lulu Onam Sadya Online?

Lulu takes Onam sadya online orders as a pre-order product on the Lulu UAE website, not as a normal same-day delivery. The 2026 pre-order carried one delivery window, on 26 August between 10am and 2pm.

  1. Open the Onam Sadhya pre-order page on Lulu UAE.
  2. Check the delivery date shown on the listing before you add anything.
  3. Set the quantity to one box per person, then add it to your basket.
  4. Pick your emirate and confirm the slot at checkout.
  5. Pay online, and keep the order number for collection or delivery.

⚠️ Pre-orders close early

The online listing shows as out of stock once the pre-order window shuts. If you are reading this after 25 August, go to the store counter instead. The Kitchen by LuLu sells over the counter until 30 August.

Buying in store also lets you see the box before you pay. Go before noon on the weekend, because the counters run out.

What Is in the Lulu Onam Sadya Box?

The box holds 24 items, all vegetarian, laid out in the order a sadhya is traditionally served. Rice sits in the middle, with the curries and pickles along the top edge of the leaf.

The named dishes on the Lulu menu are matta rice, sambar, rasam, avial, olan, kaalan, thoran, kichadi, pachadi and payasam. The remaining items are the pickles, crisps and side portions that fill the top edge.

Is the Lulu Onam Sadya Good Value?

Yes, on price per dish it beats everything else in the UAE. At Dh38.90 for 24 items, you pay about Dh1.62 a dish, against Dh7.20 a dish at the Downtown hotel spread.

What you give up is the sit-down setting and someone refilling your leaf. For a family eating at home, that trade is an easy one. Our full guide to Onam sadhya in Dubai covers the dine-in options.

Where Does Lulu Get the Onam Ingredients?

Lulu Group flies them in from Kerala. The company moved more than 2,500 tonnes of fresh produce and Onam essentials to Gulf markets by air for the 2026 season.

The first charter carried about 50 tonnes from Kochi to Abu Dhabi, with a further 60-tonne load on 20 August. Vegetables, coconuts and banana leaves all came over on those flights.

🌴 Why the banana leaf matters

A sadhya is not a sadhya on a plate. The leaf is flown in fresh for exactly this reason, and it is the single hardest item to source in the UAE at Onam.

That supply run is why the price holds at Dh38.90 across all seven emirates. A shop in Fujairah pays the same as one in Karama.

When Can You Buy the Lulu Onam Sadya?

The counter runs from 26 to 30 August 2026, which covers Thiruvonam and the weekend after it. Thiruvonam fell on Wednesday 26 August, and our Onam 2026 dates guide sets out the full 11 days.

Saturday and Sunday are the busy days, because most people work through Thiruvonam. Onam is not a public holiday in the UAE.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is the Lulu Onam Sadya in 2026?

The Lulu Onam Sadya costs Dh38.90 per box in 2026. Each box feeds one person and holds 24 items, packed with a folded banana leaf inside. The price is the same at every participating Lulu store across all seven emirates, so a store in Fujairah charges what a store in Karama charges. That works out at roughly Dh1.62 per dish, the lowest of any sadhya sold in the UAE this year.

How do you order Lulu Onam Sadya online?

Lulu lists the sadhya as a pre-order product on the Lulu UAE website rather than a normal same-day item. You open the Onam Sadhya pre-order page, check the delivery date shown on the listing, set one box per person, then confirm your emirate and slot at checkout. The 2026 pre-order carried a single delivery window on 26 August between 10am and 2pm. Once that window closes, the listing shows as out of stock.

Can I still buy the Lulu Onam Sadya in store?

Yes. The Kitchen by LuLu sells the sadhya over the counter from 26 to 30 August 2026 at participating Lulu stores across the UAE. Store buying is the route to take once the online pre-order window has shut. Go before noon at the weekend, because the counters cook a fixed batch each day and sell out. Buying in store also lets you see the box before you pay for it.

What is in the Lulu Onam Sadya box?

The box holds 24 vegetarian items. The named dishes are Palakkadan matta rice, sambar, rasam, avial, olan, kaalan, thoran, kichadi, pachadi and payasam. The rest of the count is made up of pickles, crisps and small side portions that sit along the top edge of the leaf. A folded banana leaf comes inside the box so you can lay the meal out properly at home.

Who makes the Lulu Onam Sadya menu?

The menu is built by Pazhayidom Mohanan Namboothiri, a Kerala chef known for traditional temple-style vegetarian cooking. The sadhya is cooked and packed by The Kitchen by LuLu, the prepared-food counter inside Lulu stores. Lulu Group flies the ingredients in from Kerala for the season, including the fresh banana leaves that go into every box, so the spread stays close to what a Kerala household would serve.

Is the Lulu Onam Sadya vegetarian?

Yes, completely. A traditional sadhya carries no meat, fish or egg anywhere on the leaf. The Lulu box follows that rule across all 24 items, from the rice and lentil dishes through to the coconut-based curries and the payasam at the end. This makes it straightforward for mixed groups and for anyone keeping a vegetarian diet during the Onam season.

How many Lulu sadya boxes do I need for a family?

Order one box per adult. Each box is portioned for a single person and is not designed to be split, because a sadhya works by giving each person their own leaf. For a family of four, that is four boxes at Dh155.60 in total. Younger children often share, so many families order one fewer box than their headcount and add extra rice from home.

Which Lulu stores sell the Onam Sadya?

Participating Lulu stores across all seven emirates sell it, covering Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah. Not every branch runs a Kitchen by LuLu counter, so call your nearest store before travelling to it. Larger hypermarket branches are the safest bet. The price stays at Dh38.90 wherever you buy it.
