Where To Do Diwali Shopping in Dubai 2026: 8 Best Markets, Bazaars, Malls
The best places for Diwali shopping in Dubai are Meena Bazaar in Bur Dubai for festive clothes, diyas and décor, Karama for mithai, and Lulu for low-cost lights and puja items. Global Village holds a Diwali mela from 6 to 10 November, and the Gold Souk in Deira is where families buy gold on Dhanteras.
Diwali shopping in Dubai is in full swing, and the best places are ready with festive clothes, diyas, sweets and gifts. In Bur Dubai, Meena Bazaar is busy with diyas, torans and festive outfits. BurJuman's Diwali bazaar is already open every evening until 12 November, and Global Village will open its Diwali mela on Friday 6 November. The week before Diwali in Dubai is the best time for Diwali shopping, and the city's Festival of Lights adds prize draws at the malls from 2 to 12 November.
Diwali Shopping in Dubai
This guide gives you the eight best places to shop for Diwali in Dubai, from the bazaars of Bur Dubai to the malls and the Global Village mela. For each one you will find what to buy, what it costs, the opening hours, the nearest Metro, parking and the best time to go. After the list come a "what to buy where" chart, a walking route through the old souks, the best online shops and a few tips.
How did we order them? First come the old markets where most families do their Diwali shopping, then the shops with fixed prices, then the festival markets, then gold and spices in Deira. We chose them by what you can buy for Diwali, how much it costs and how easy each place is to reach.
1. Meena Bazaar, Bur Dubai
Meena Bazaar is Dubai's Little India, a few busy lanes between Al Fahidi Street and Khalid Bin Al Waleed Road. Indian families have shopped here since the 1970s. It is the one place where you can buy your outfit, your diyas and your sweets in one trip.
Buy clothes first, while you have the energy. If you want something stitched, hand in the fabric this week. Tailors get very busy before Diwali, and a late order may not be ready for Sunday.
The lanes are noisy, bright and crowded in the evening, and many families love that festive rush. For easy shopping, go on a weekday morning, when the shopkeepers have time to show you more.
2. Temple Lane and Bur Dubai Souk, Old Bur Dubai
Behind the old Bur Dubai Souk, close to the Creek, a narrow lane leads to Dubai's Krishna temple. This lane is where you buy what you need for the puja itself. The main Hindu temple moved to Jebel Ali in 2024, but the Krishna temple is still here, and so are the small shops around it.
Buy fresh marigolds last, on Saturday or early on Diwali morning, so they still look bright at the evening puja. The lane is busiest around prayer times. Call Perumal Flower Shop ahead if you need a big order.
At the end of the covered souk, the abra (a wooden water taxi) crosses the Creek to the Deira souks in a few minutes.
3. Karama Centre and Karama Shopping Complex, Al Karama
Karama is where Dubai buys its Diwali sweets. The best-known mithai shops in the city are here, a few streets apart, so you can compare boxes and taste before you buy.
The queues get long in Diwali week, especially for big family and office orders. Call your order in a few days before and just collect it. Puranmal and Shree Gangour also deliver through Talabat if you would rather stay home.
Karama is calmer than Meena Bazaar, and it is easy to combine sweets with a quick clothes stop at Karama Centre.
4. Lulu Hypermarket, Al Karama and Across Dubai
Lulu is the easy option when you do not want to bargain. Its diyas, rangoli colours and puja basics have the lowest fixed prices on this list. Every item has a price tag, you can pay by card, and you can do the week's grocery shop at the same time.
Lulu has branches all over Dubai, including Al Karama and Al Barsha, so go to the one nearest to you. It has not announced a special Diwali offer for this year, so the prices above are its normal ones.
5. BurJuman, Bur Dubai
BurJuman is the place for Diwali shopping indoors, with something to keep the children busy. Its Diwali festival, Khushiyon Se Bhari Diwali ("a Diwali full of happiness"), is on now and runs every evening until 12 November. Next to the bazaar, there are free workshops and baithaks, which are musical sing-along evenings.
BurJuman station is one stop from Al Fahidi on the Green Line. Shop Meena Bazaar in the afternoon, then come here to cool down, shop the brands and stay for the music.
6. Global Village Diwali Mela and India Pavilion, Dubailand
Global Village will feel like a Diwali fair this year. From 6 to 10 November, a Diwali mela run with the India Pavilion will fill with stalls of decorations, gifts and sweets. Last year, sequin saris, Kashmiri textiles and gold-plated jewellery were the best sellers here in the week before Diwali.
On Diwali night, Sunday 8 November, a 600-drone show will start at 8pm, so the park will be packed. Shop on another night if you can. Tuesday 10 November is for ladies and families only. Our guide to Diwali celebrations in Dubai has the full Global Village programme.
7. Gold Souk, Deira
Many families buy a little gold on Dhanteras, the first day of Diwali, for luck in the year ahead. The Gold Souk in Deira is the busiest place in Dubai to do it, and this year Dhanteras falls on Friday 6 November.
Compare the per-gram rate between two or three shops before you choose. A free gift is not a discount. Check today's price on our Dubai gold rate page before you go. It always shows the latest rate.
8. Spice Souk, Deira
The Spice Souk sits a few lanes from the Gold Souk, right by the Creek. It is the cheapest way to make your own Diwali gift hampers. Pack the nuts, dates and saffron at home in a nice box with a diya and some sweets, and your gift looks far more personal than a shop hamper.
Bargaining is normal here. Taste before you buy, and walk on if the first price feels high. There is another stall a few steps away.

Most of your Diwali list can be done in Bur Dubai and Karama. Use this chart to see where each thing is easiest to find, then plan your route.
Which Diwali Market in Dubai Is Best for You?
There is no single best place. It depends on what is on your list and who is coming with you. Here is our pick for each kind of shopping trip, with its number in the list above:
A Diwali Shopping Walk Through Bur Dubai and Deira
You can do most of your Diwali shopping in one afternoon on foot, with a short boat ride in the middle. Wear comfortable shoes and follow these steps:
- Start at Al Fahidi Metro station (Green Line). Walk into Meena Bazaar for clothes, tailors, diyas and lights.
- Walk north towards the Creek, about 10 to 15 minutes. Find the temple lane behind Bur Dubai Souk for garlands and puja items.
- Walk through the covered Bur Dubai Souk. Look for fabric and brass lamps on your way to the water.
- Take an abra across the Creek. The wooden boats leave from the Bur Dubai abra station, cost AED 1 and take a few minutes.
- Shop the Spice Souk in Deira. It starts right by the abra station. Buy nuts, dry fruits and saffron for your hampers.
- Finish at the Gold Souk. It is a short walk away. Then take the Metro home from Gold Souq or Al Ras station.

Things to Keep in Mind for Diwali Shopping in Dubai
A few tips will save you time and money in Diwali week:
- Take the Metro to Bur Dubai. Street parking around Meena Bazaar fills up every evening. Public street parking is usually free on Sundays, but on Diwali Sunday you will not find a space.
- Bargain in the souks, not the malls. In Meena Bazaar, the old souks and Karama, the first price is only a starting point. In Lulu, BurJuman and the brand stores, the price on the tag is the price.
- Carry some cash. Most shops take cards, but small stalls and flower sellers often prefer cash.
- Go early in the week. Friday 6 to Sunday 8 November are the busiest days, and tailors and sweet shops are fullest then. For outfits that need stitching, start now.
- Live in Sharjah? The Rolla area has its own Indian clothes and sweet shops, so you may not need to drive to Dubai.
