Six ways to get into GITEX 2026 without paying

One thing to understand before you read on, because it explains almost every confusing answer you will find online. GITEX in December 2026 will be two shows in one building. GITEX GLOBAL is the big technology show and its pass costs AED 630. Expand North Star is the startup and investor show inside it, and its pass is free. When someone says they got a free GITEX pass, it is worth asking which of the two they mean.

The six free routes compared

Start with number one today, because it takes five minutes and gives you a badge either way. Then work on numbers two and five during October and November.

GITEX Free Pass 1: The Expand North Star Pass

This is the only free pass you can give yourself. You fill in the official GITEX visitor registration form, choose Expand North Star as your pass type, and you are done. There is no code to find, no approval to wait for and nothing to pay.

Expand North Star is the startup and investor half of GITEX. It is where founders exhibit, where investors walk the floor, and where the accelerators and free zones set up. In 2026 it will run from Tuesday 8 to Thursday 10 December, in the same building as the main show.

When you pick the free option, the form shows you exactly what it covers:

Read that carefully, because it is the honest answer to the question most people are really asking. It covers the Expand North Star floor and the Expand North Star talks. It does not say anything about the main GITEX GLOBAL halls. The two shows will share a venue for the first time in 2026, and the organiser has not yet said whether one badge lets you into the other. Do not book a flight assuming it does.

How to get the Expand North Star free pass

The whole thing takes about five minutes. The only place people get stuck is the pass selector, which sits right at the bottom of a long form.

1. Go to mktg.gitex.com/2026-visitor-reg. This is the only official registration page.
2. Fill in your name, company, job title and a work email address. GITEX is a trade show, so a personal Gmail address is what gets registrations questioned.
3. Tick at least three product categories. The form will not let you continue with fewer.
4. Scroll to CHOOSE YOUR PASS TYPE and pick EXPAND NORTH STAR – FREE.
5. Confirm you are 18 or over, accept the terms and submit. Your badge details arrive by email.

GITEX Free Pass 2: An Exhibitor’s Free Pass Link

Every company that takes a stand at GITEX is given a batch of free visitor passes to hand out. They want you on their stand, so they give these away openly. This is the most common way people get into the main show floor without paying, and almost nobody outside the industry knows it happens.

From about October onwards, exhibitors post their free pass links on Instagram and LinkedIn, usually with their stand number in the caption. Real examples from last year read like this: one email software company posted “Claim your FREE PASS and meet us at Concourse 2, Stand CC2-22”, and a cybersecurity firm posted “Secure your FREE Pass to GITEX Global” with a short link. Both were genuine.

Where to look for exhibitor free passes

Three places, in order of how likely they are to work.

• Your own suppliers. Email your account manager at any company you already buy software or hardware from, and at the distributor behind them. Ask if they have GITEX 2026 visitor passes. Most do, and hardly anyone asks.
• LinkedIn and Instagram, from October. Search for GITEX 2026 along with words like free pass or invitation. Two searches worth saving: LinkedIn posts mentioning GITEX 2026 free pass and the #gitexglobal hashtag on Instagram. It is also worth following GITEX GLOBAL on Instagram and on LinkedIn, because exhibitors tag them and the posts surface in the comments. Exhibitors push these hard in the last six weeks.
• The exhibitor list on gitex.com, once it is published. Pick the companies you actually wanted to meet, then check their website and social accounts for an invitation page.

Check these three things first

• ✓Which pass is it? Ask whether the pass is for GITEX GLOBAL or for Expand North Star. Some exhibitors hand out Expand North Star passes, which are free to everyone anyway.
• ✓Where does the link go? A real invitation sends you to gitex.com or mktg.gitex.com to complete your registration. If the form lives on some other website, be careful.
• ✓Is it for this year? A lot of posts still circulating are from 2025, when GITEX was in October at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The 2026 show is in December at Expo City Dubai. If a post says October or World Trade Centre, it is out of date.

GITEX Free Pass 3: Media Accreditation

If you write, film or broadcast for a living, GITEX gives you a press pass and does not charge for it. This is a proper free pass to the whole show, not a limited one, but you have to apply and be approved.

The press form asks for your publication name and website, what kind of media you work in, a LinkedIn profile or a link to your work, and whether you have attended before. You will also be asked to bring a passport or Emirates ID on the day, and the form says your details are shared with the Dubai government for entry purposes.

GITEX Free Pass 4: Exhibit, Speak or Pitch at the Show

If your company takes a stand, everyone working on that stand gets a badge. If you are accepted as a speaker, you get a badge. This is the most expensive-sounding route and the one people dismiss fastest, but for small companies it is often cheaper than it looks.

The reason is shared stands. Countries, free zones and accelerators buy large blocks of space and put their startups on them, often free or heavily subsidised for the startup itself. If you run an early-stage company in the UAE, your free zone may already have a GITEX stand with space on it, and the cost to you could be nothing.

This is not a last-minute plan. Stand space and speaker slots for a December show are decided months in advance, and the good pavilion places go first. If this interests you, start now rather than in November, using the speaker interest form or the book a stand form.

GITEX Free Pass 5: A Code From Your Community or Free Zone

Groups you already belong to often negotiate free or cheaper passes for their members, and then tell almost nobody. This includes developer communities, professional bodies, chambers of commerce, free zones and universities.

Two real examples show how it works. Google Developer Groups Dubai gave its members promo codes worth between 50 and 75 per cent off several GITEX Global 2025 passes, entered at the checkout stage of registration. IEEE Region 8 Entrepreneurship offered 30 completely free visitor tickets for GITEX Africa 2024, given out by application, with a deadline, and judged on why you wanted to go and whether you could pay for the trip yourself.

So the practical step is simple. Think of every group your company or you personally belong to, then send one email to whoever runs it asking whether they have a GITEX 2026 allocation this year. That includes your free zone if you are licensed in one, your chamber of commerce, your industry association, any developer or cloud user group you attend, and your university if you are studying.

GITEX Free Pass 6: A Spare Pass From Reddit or Social Media

Every year, people who have spare passes give them away. Someone registers three colleagues and only two can go. Someone gets a sponsor allocation bigger than their team. Threads appear on Reddit in r/dubai and r/DubaiCentral with titles like “anyone want a free one-day pass” or “has anyone got a spare code”, and people do hand them over.

This genuinely works, and one Reddit user in a past year gave away passes that included the main show floor, not just the startup show. But you are relying on a stranger, so treat it as a bonus rather than your plan. Register for the free Expand North Star pass first so you have something in hand, then see if anything better turns up.

Before you rely on a pass from a stranger

• ✓Ask which show and which days it covers. The most common disappointment is finding out your free pass is an Expand North Star pass, which you could have got yourself in five minutes.
• ✓Check it has not been used. A badge that has already been collected or a code that has already been redeemed is worthless. Ask directly.
• ✓Check the year. Old posts resurface constantly. If it mentions October or the Dubai World Trade Centre, it is a 2025 pass and it is dead.
• ✓Never pay anyone for a free pass. Nobody legitimate charges a fee, a deposit or a handling charge to pass on a complimentary badge.
• ✓Ignore coupon and voucher sites. The discount codes they list for GITEX are almost always real community codes that have been copied without the group, the pass type or the expiry date, which is what made them work in the first place.
