What Is GITEX Shopper?

GITEX Shopper is a shopping fair for the public. Electronics shops sell phones, laptops, televisions and other gadgets there at sale prices. It was held in a hall at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

It worked like this:

• Shops and brands had stands in one hall. In 2018 and 2019 these included Sharaf DG, Emax and Jumbo.
• You paid at the door. In 2018, entry cost Dh20 for adults.
• You bought on the spot. Shops offered sale prices, bundles, free gifts and prizes for the days of the fair.

It is easy to confuse with GITEX Global, because the names are close. GITEX Global is a business technology show, and it sells nothing to shoppers. We compare the two further down.

Is GITEX Shopper Happening in 2026?

No. The GITEX Shopper fair is not on in 2026, as far as anyone has announced. We looked in four places on 11 October 2026, and this is what we found:

Visit Dubai is the city's official website for visitors. Its GITEX Shopper page still exists, but it says: "This event is currently not available".

What about the websites that show dates for GITEX Shopper 2025 or GITEX Shopper 2026? Several event-listing sites do. We could not match any of those dates to the organiser or to the UAE press. So we do not repeat them, and you should not plan around them.

Three things share the GITEX name

This is where most of the confusion comes from. Three different things use the name, and each has a different answer:

Why do shops use the name at all? Shoppers remember it. In 2019, seven shops published their own "GITEX" catalogues, and one kept the name on its sale for five weeks.

Today we found one shop that still uses it. Sharaf DG has a page on its website called "GITEX Shopper". We could not open that page, so we cannot tell you what is on it.

So here is the plain answer. There is no fair to visit in 2026. Shops may run their own sales with the GITEX name later in the year, but none is announced. If one appears, the only thing you can judge is the price of the product itself.

GITEX Shopper vs GITEX Global: Not the Same Event

Many people mix these two up, and the mistake can cost money. GITEX Shopper was a sale for the public. GITEX Global 2026 is a trade show, which means companies go there to show products to other companies.

GITEX Shopper Dates: In Which Month Is It Held?

GITEX Shopper was held in late September and early October in the last two years we can confirm. There is no date for 2026.

Can you use the old months to guess the next date? No. The GITEX Global trade show itself moved this year, from October to December. Old dates are a record of the past and nothing more.

When Will GITEX Shopper Offers Be Announced in 2026?

Nobody has announced them yet. No retailer has published GITEX offers for December 2026, as of 11 October 2026.

What we can show you is how the timing worked at the 2019 show. This is a past pattern. It is not an announcement, and it is not a promise.

When the catalogues appeared in 2019

A catalogue is the leaflet of offers that a shop publishes for a sale. The deals website WowDeals lists seven retailers that published a "GITEX" catalogue for the show that opened on 24 September 2019.

Look at the day each catalogue started:

Only Carrefour started on the opening day. The other six started one to four days later. So the offers did not all arrive at once, and no catalogue in this list started before the show opened.

Now look at how long each catalogue ran:

Most catalogues ran for about a week. One ran for five weeks, long after the hall had closed. The "GITEX" name stayed on sales after the show ended.

The week to watch in 2026

If retailers link their offers to GITEX again, the week to watch is 7 to 11 December 2026. That is the week of GITEX Global 2026.

Notice the "if". No retailer has said it will do this. Going by 2019, offers would appear on the first day of that week or a few days after it.

GITEX Shopper Offers on Laptops and Mobile Phones: Real Deals From Past Shows

So what does a GITEX deal actually look like? Here are the best offers that newspapers published at the 2019 and 2018 shows. Read them for the kind of deal, and ignore the price.

GITEX laptop offers at the 2019 show

Let's start with laptops. These five prices were published on 30 September 2019, during the show.

Three of the five came with an extra. The Asus had a free trolley bag, the Acer had a free Marshall Major III headset, and the HP had a Razer gaming bundle.

The most expensive laptop cost about 23 times as much as the cheapest. So GITEX laptop offers covered every budget.

GITEX offers on mobile phones at the 2018 show

Now for phones. These three offers were published on 3 October 2018, the first day of that show.

The Samsung offer was a bundle. A bundle is a main product and an extra item sold together for one price. Jumbo changed its bundles through the day, so the offer in the morning was not always there in the evening.

Vouchers, trade-ins and prizes in 2018

Not every offer was a price. Some were extras that you got after you paid:

• Sharaf DG gave vouchers worth Dh1,350 with purchases.
• Sharaf DG also sold a BMW 318i with a 65-inch 4K TV for Dh89,999. It advertised this as a saving of Dh55,000.
• Emax offered a trade-in at double the suggested value. A trade-in means you hand over your old device and get money off the new one.
• Emax added a Tajawal travel voucher of Dh500 to Dh2,000 and up to 10% back on one bank's cards.
• Emax also had a spin-the-wheel prize, an iPhone XS Max, for purchases over Dh5,000.

Vouchers sound like cash. Are they? Look at what the Dh1,350 from Sharaf DG was made of:

Dh1,300 of the Dh1,350 was for travel. If you had no trip to book, only the Dh50 Careem voucher was left.

GITEX Shopper Offers at Sharaf DG, Carrefour, Emax and Jumbo

Many people search for GITEX offers by shop. None of these retailers has announced GITEX offers for 2026.

Sharaf DG, Emax and Jumbo had the main deals in the 2018 and 2019 newspaper reports above. Carrefour and Emax also published "GITEX" catalogues in 2019. That is all the record shows.

One more thing about Sharaf DG. Its "GITEX Shopper" sale page shows in Google with the words "up to 40% off" mobiles, smart watches, tablets and laptops. We could not open the page itself, so we cannot confirm any offer on it.

GITEX Shopper Tickets and Timing

There are no GITEX Shopper tickets for 2026, because there is no announced show. No price and no opening hours exist.

This is what the 2018 show charged, and when it opened:

• Dates: 3 to 6 October 2018.
• Timing: 11am to 11pm every day.
• Entry: Dh20 for adults and Dh10 for students. Children under 5 entered free.
• Parking: six hours free, if you spent more than Dh300.

Do not pay anyone for a "GITEX Shopper 2026 ticket" until the organiser confirms a date.

GITEX Shopper Deals: Three Things You Will Be Told

Friends, adverts and sales staff will all tell you things about GITEX deals. Let's test the three you will hear most.

"GITEX prices are the lowest of the year"

We found no evidence for this, and none against it. Even the Dh55,000 "saving" on the BMW offer was the retailer's own figure. So treat this as a claim, and check the price yourself.

"The bundle is free"

It is true that you do not pay extra for the gift. But the free item is usually small next to the price. Here are three past offers where the retailer stated the gift's value:

The gift was worth about 10% to 20% of the price. That is a real extra only if you would have bought the item anyway.

"GITEX Shopper is on again this year"

This is not true for the fair. No fair is confirmed for 2026, and the dates on event-listing sites have no source behind them. What may happen is that shops run their own sales and call them GITEX sales, as seven did in 2019. None has announced one yet.

How to Tell a Real GITEX Offer

A real offer is one where the product costs less than it does elsewhere today. This table shows four mistakes that cost shoppers money.

A five-minute test for any GITEX deal

You can run this test on your phone:

1. Write down the exact model number. Include the storage size. Two laptops with the same name can be very different.
2. Search for that model number today. Look at two other UAE retailers and note the lowest price.
3. Remove the gifts. Ignore any free item, voucher or prize that you would not pay for yourself.
4. Compare the two prices. If the GITEX price is lower, it is a real offer. If not, walk away.
