Ganesh Visarjan Dates 2026

Ganpati came home to Dubai on Monday, 14 September 2026. Within hours the same question starts moving through every family WhatsApp group from Karama to JVC: which day are we doing the visarjan, and at what time?

This page answers that, and nothing else. It gives you every visarjan date for 2026 with the day of the week attached. If you also need the puja vidhi and the sthapana muhurat, our Ganesh Chaturthi 2026 in Dubai guide covers the rest of the festival.

The short answer

The Ganesh Chaturthi visarjan dates in Dubai for 2026 are as follows. 1.5 days — Tuesday, 15 September 2026 3 days — Wednesday, 16 September 2026 5 days — Friday, 18 September 2026 7 days — Sunday, 20 September 2026 11 days, Anant Chaturdashi — Friday, 25 September 2026 Anant Chaturdashi falls on the 25th this year, not the 24th, and that is not a typo. Here is why it moved.

  • All the visarjan dates in Dubai for 2026
  • Why the 11-day visarjan moved to 25 September
  • Muhurat timings for each visarjan day
  • How to choose your visarjan day
  • Dubai visarjan rules for 2026
  • Doing the visarjan at home, step by step
  • Quick answers

Ganesh Chaturthi 1.5, 3, 5, 7 & 11 Day Visarjan Dates in Dubai

Every household keeps Ganpati for a different length of time. The murti stays for a day and a half, or three days, five, seven or the full eleven, and the visarjan date follows from the day you did the sthapana. For almost everyone in the UAE this year that was Monday, 14 September 2026.

Anant Chaturdashi, the 11-day visarjan, closes the festival on Friday 25 September 2026.

We have put these dates together as carefully as we could, from panchang calculations for Dubai and a cross-check against published sources. Panchangs do sometimes differ by a day. If your family follows a particular one, or your priest has already given you a date, please go with that rather than with us.

There are four things worth noticing in that table before you commit to a date.

  • The 1.5-day and 3-day dates fall back to back. Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 September are both ordinary working days in the UAE, so plan the immersion for either the morning before work or the evening after it.
  • The 5-day visarjan falls on a Friday. Friday 18 September is a short working day for most employers here, which makes it the easiest weekday visarjan of the lot.
  • The 7-day visarjan falls on a Sunday. Sunday 20 September is a full weekend day, and it is the only slot where an unhurried aarti, a proper uttarpuja and a slow immersion all fit without anyone watching the clock.
  • Anant Chaturdashi is a Friday too. Friday 25 September closes the festival, and it is the busiest visarjan day of the year for the Indian community in Dubai.

Count from the morning the murti was installed, not from the tithi. Sthapana morning is day one, which puts day three on 16 September and day five on 18 September. Anant Chaturdashi is the one date that is fixed by the tithi rather than by counting, and in 2026 that difference changes the answer.

Why the 11-Day Ganesh Visarjan Date in Dubai Falls on 25 September, Not 24

Count eleven days forward from Monday 14 September and you land on Thursday 24 September. Almost everyone who does that arithmetic on a phone calendar gets the same answer, and for 2026 it is the wrong one.

Shukla Chaturthi, the tithi that Ganesh Chaturthi is tied to, began at 5:36 am on 14 September and did not end until 6:14 am on 15 September in Dubai. The sun rose at 6:05 am on both of those mornings, so the same tithi was running at two consecutive sunrises. When that happens the tithi is counted twice, which is called a tithi vriddhi, and every tithi after it shifts one calendar date later.

Why the 11th day lands on the 12th date in 2026
Shukla Chaturthi is present at sunrise on both 14 and 15 September in Dubai, so one tithi fills two calendar dates.

Counted by tithi rather than by calendar date, Anant Chaturdashi is still the 11th day of worship.

The eleventh tithi of worship, Shukla Chaturdashi, therefore arrives on the twelfth calendar date. In Dubai it runs from 9:48 pm on Thursday 24 September to 9:37 pm on Friday 25 September, and because it is the tithi in place at sunrise on the Friday, Friday is the day of the visarjan.

The short version. If your family keeps Ganpati for eleven days, your visarjan is on Friday, 25 September 2026. Thursday 24 September is Trayodashi, which is a day too early. This holds whether you are in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi or back home in India, because it is a lunar calendar effect rather than a local one.

A repeated tithi is one of those things that different panchang traditions read in slightly different ways. We have followed the reckoning that is most widely used, and we have shown the working above so you can judge it for yourself. If your family counts it differently, they know your tradition far better than we ever could.

9 Days and 10 Days Ganpati Visarjan Dates in Dubai

The 9 days Ganpati visarjan date in Dubai this year is Tuesday, 22 September 2026, and the 10 days Ganpati visarjan date is Wednesday, 23 September 2026.

Both lengths are common here, and the nine-day visarjan in particular draws large numbers in Dubai. Neither date falls on a weekend, so most families who keep these lengths do the immersion either early in the morning or after work.

If none of the windows work for you, do it anyway. A muhurat is a preference rather than a gate. A visarjan done with the whole family present at 8 pm on the right date is worth more than a rushed one squeezed into Amrit at 9 in the morning. Do the uttarpuja properly, finish the aarti, and immerse when everyone is actually together.

Ganesh Visarjan Muhurat Timings in Dubai for Every Visarjan Day

A choghadiya window is worked out by splitting the time between sunrise and sunset into eight equal parts, which means the windows move with your location. Dubai’s sunrise is about 90 minutes behind Mumbai’s on the clock, but the length of the day is different too, so you cannot simply take an Indian muhurat list and subtract an hour and a half from it. Everything below is calculated for Dubai directly.

Visarjan muhurat windows in Dubai, sunrise to sunset
Each bar is one day, split into the eight choghadiya periods between sunrise and sunset. These are worked out from Dubai’s own sunrise and sunset, not shifted back from an Indian panchang.

Green is a window you can use, grey is one to leave alone, and the red hatching is Rahu Kaal. Where Rahu Kaal lands on top of an otherwise good choghadiya, it cancels it out.

These windows are worked out from Dubai’s own sunrise and sunset, to the best of our understanding. Sources vary by a minute or two here and there, and a muhurat has always been a gentle guide rather than something to worry over. Please treat it that way.

How to Choose Between 1.5, 3, 5, 7 and 11 Day Visarjan in Dubai

There is no hierarchy here, and a day-and-a-half Ganpati is not a lesser Ganpati. What decides the length is what your family has always done, and what this particular September in Dubai will realistically allow.

Which visarjan day fits your week in Dubai?
Two questions decide it, and the second one only matters if the first is a no.
If a sankalp was taken
Keep it. The number of days your family vowed outranks every muhurat table on this page, and it does not change because a date is awkward.
If there is no sankalp
Choose by how many mornings you can realistically give to aarti before work. The options below are the honest answers.
One evening is all I have
1.5 days
Tuesday 15 September
A couple of days
3 days
Wednesday 16 September
Through the weekend
5 or 7 days
18 or 20 September
The whole festival
11 days
Friday 25 September
Whichever length you keep, the immersion itself happens at home in 2026.
  • A sankalp settles the question on its own. If someone in the family took a vow for a set number of days, that number holds no matter how the calendar or the weekend falls.
  • Check what the mandaps are doing first. If you want to visit a public celebration before your own visarjan, the confirmed venues and aarti timings are in our Ganesh Chaturthi events and temples guide.
  • Start short if this is your first year. Eleven days of twice-daily aarti, naivedya and visitors is a real commitment in a working household. Plenty of Dubai families begin at a day and a half or three days and lengthen it as the years go on.
  • Let the UAE work week make the decision for you. Friday 18, Sunday 20 and Friday 25 September sit most comfortably against a Dubai working week, while Wednesday 16 and Tuesday 22 are the hardest to manage.
  • Do not change the length once the murti is installed. The number of days is fixed in the sankalp you make when the murti is seated. If you have already declared five days, it stays five days.

Gauri Visarjan Date in Dubai for Families Who Keep Jyeshtha Gauri

The Gauri visarjan date in Dubai this year is Saturday, 19 September 2026, with Gauri Avahan on Thursday 17 September and Gauri Pujan on Friday 18 September.

If you bring Gauri home alongside Ganpati and you are keeping a 5-day or 7-day Ganpati, the two sets of days will overlap. A good many Maharashtrian families in Dubai handle this by doing both immersions together on the Saturday.

FAQs

What are the Ganesh visarjan dates in Dubai for 2026?

In Dubai the 1.5 days visarjan falls on Tuesday 15 September 2026, the 3 days on Wednesday 16 September, the 5 days on Friday 18 September, the 7 days on Sunday 20 September, the 9 days on Tuesday 22 September, the 10 days on Wednesday 23 September, and the 11 days visarjan on Anant Chaturdashi, Friday 25 September 2026. Count your days from the morning the murti was installed, which was Monday 14 September 2026.

Why is the 11 days visarjan on 25 September and not 24 September 2026?

Shukla Chaturthi was present at sunrise on both 14 and 15 September in Dubai, so the tithi is counted twice. That is known as a tithi vriddhi, and it pushes every following tithi one calendar date later. Anant Chaturdashi therefore falls on Friday 25 September 2026, which is the twelfth calendar date but still the eleventh tithi of worship.

Can I immerse a Ganesh idol in the sea or in Dubai Creek?

No. Hindu Temple Dubai has asked devotees not to immerse Ganesha idols in public places, ponds, backwaters, beaches or the sea, and to complete the immersion at home instead. Putting idol material into the sea or the Creek is also treated as a public cleanliness violation in Dubai. Older articles that list approved beaches or immersion permits are out of date.

What is the best time for Ganesh visarjan in Dubai on Anant Chaturdashi?

On Friday 25 September 2026 the auspicious windows in Dubai are Char from 6:09 am to 7:39 am, Labh from 7:39 am to 9:09 am, Amrit from 9:09 am to 10:40 am, Shubh from 12:10 pm to 1:40 pm, and Char again from 4:41 pm to 6:12 pm. Avoid Rahu Kaal between 10:40 am and 12:10 pm. The late-afternoon Char window before sunset is the most popular choice.

How do I do Ganesh visarjan at home in a Dubai apartment?

Fill a tub, a large bucket or a drum with clean water deep enough to cover the murti. Perform the uttarpuja and the final aarti, carry the murti on a thali, lower it into the water three times and let it rest. A clay murti dissolves in roughly 90 minutes. Pour the water over your plants afterwards and put the settled clay into a plant pot or a garden bed.

Is the 1.5 days visarjan the same as the next day?

Yes. A day-and-a-half Ganpati is installed on Ganesh Chaturthi morning and immersed the following day, which makes it Tuesday 15 September 2026 this year. It is usually done in the afternoon or the evening rather than first thing in the morning, and that is where the half day comes from.

What should I do with the water after the visarjan?

Use it to water your plants. Hindu Temple Dubai specifically suggests that the immersion water can be respectfully used for watering plants. Do not pour it down a sink, a drain or a toilet, and do not tip it into a communal pool, a fountain or a landscaped water feature.

Which 2026 visarjan day is easiest for working families in Dubai?

Sunday 20 September, the 7 days visarjan, is the only visarjan date that falls on a full UAE weekend day. Friday 18 September and Friday 25 September come next, because Friday is a short working day for most employers in the UAE.

This guide has been written with care and with a great deal of respect for the festival, and it is offered simply as general information. For anything to do with your own family’s traditions or observances, your priest or your local temple will always be the better guide than any website, ours included.

How these Dubai visarjan timings were calculated

Sunrise and sunset are computed for Dubai at 25.07°N, 55.17°E on Gulf Standard Time (UTC+4). Choghadiya windows divide each day’s sunrise-to-sunset span into eight equal parts in the standard weekday sequence, and Rahu Kaal is the fixed weekday segment of the same eight. Tithi, karana and nakshatra positions are computed from the Swiss Ephemeris using the Lahiri ayanamsa, and cross-checked against Drik Panchang’s published Dubai timings for Ganesh Chaturthi and Anant Chaturdashi 2026. Immersion guidance follows the Ganesha Chaturthi 2026 directions issued by Hindu Temple Dubai and reported by Gulf News on 14 September 2026.
