8 Best Luxury Car Rentals in Abu Dhabi: Prices and Airport Delivery Compared
Most luxury car rentals in Abu Dhabi come from Dubai companies that deliver. Phantom Rent a Car is the only one we found based in Abu Dhabi, with a Lamborghini Urus from AED 2,100 a day and free delivery to Yas, Saadiyat, Reem and the airport. OneClickDrive has the most choice, Superior the best reviews with an AED 500 delivery fee, and Masterkey charges AED 700 to 1,000 for the airport.
The best luxury car rentals in Abu Dhabi are mostly Dubai companies that deliver to the capital. Of the eight we compared, only Phantom Rent a Car is based in Abu Dhabi, with a branch on Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Street and desks at Rixos Marina and Rixos Saadiyat. The cheapest supercar we found is a Lamborghini Urus at AED 2,100 a day, delivered free to Yas Island, Saadiyat, Reem and the airport.
The other seven deliver from Dubai, some for free and some for a fee of AED 500 to 1,000, which can make a cheaper Dubai price dearer in the end. Each company below gets the same card, showing its cars, prices and what delivery to Abu Dhabi and the airport costs.
8 Best Luxury Car Rentals in Abu Dhabi
In this guide you will find the eight companies, their luxury cars and prices, what each charges to deliver to Abu Dhabi and Abu Dhabi airport, whether renting from Dubai is cheaper, and how Abu Dhabi's Darb tolls work.
Here are the eight companies, starting with the one based in Abu Dhabi, then the Dubai companies in the order we would book them. Where a company leaves VAT out, we added the 5%.
1. Phantom Rent a Car
Phantom started in Abu Dhabi in 2011 and is the only supercar rental company we found that is actually based there. It delivers free to listed areas including Yas Island, Saadiyat, Reem Island and Abu Dhabi airport, and has the cheapest Urus here.
Its page says to check airport charges even though the airport is on its free list, so confirm. It does not say whether VAT is included, and it has no Trustpilot page.
Choose Phantom if you are staying in Abu Dhabi and want a local company with free delivery.
2. OneClickDrive (Abu Dhabi)
OneClickDrive is a website where rental companies list their cars, and its Abu Dhabi section had 76 luxury and supercar listings when we checked. Its FAQ says most companies deliver free in Abu Dhabi, including Yas and the airport.
Each listing is a different company, so check its delivery terms and reviews. Some of the same cars cost more on its Abu Dhabi listings than on its Dubai ones, so compare both.
Choose OneClickDrive if you want the widest choice and free delivery.
3. Superior Car Rental
Superior is a Dubai company with the best independent reviews here, 4.7 on Trustpilot, and it delivers to Abu Dhabi for a fee.
Its Abu Dhabi fee appears in its booking system rather than on its pages, and it does not say whether it is each way, so confirm. For a one-day rental the fee makes it dearer than Phantom; for a week it matters less.
Choose Superior if reviews matter most and you are renting for several days.
4. Octane
Octane is a large Dubai company with its own Abu Dhabi fleet section and delivery anywhere in Abu Dhabi. It has 4.6 on Trustpilot from 65 reviews.
Its Abu Dhabi prices are higher than its Dubai ones for the same car: the Urus is AED 2,640 before VAT in Abu Dhabi against AED 2,376 in Dubai. It does not publish a delivery fee, so ask for the total.
Choose Octane if you want a Porsche 911 or a G63 delivered in Abu Dhabi.
5. Masterkey (MK Rent a Car)
Masterkey is a Dubai company with an Abu Dhabi page, VAT-inclusive prices and no deposit, and some of the lowest day rates here.
The airport fee wipes out its lower day rate on short rentals: a Cullinan for three days at Abu Dhabi airport comes to about AED 9,797 with delivery both ways, against AED 9,660 at Phantom. It shows no Abu Dhabi address.
Choose Masterkey if you are renting for a week or more, when the delivery fee matters less.
6. Trinity Rental
Trinity, in Dubai, offers free delivery to anywhere in Abu Dhabi, prices that include VAT, and no deposit, with 300 km a day on its Abu Dhabi page.
It warns that airport delivery costs extra without giving the figure. Its prices are higher than most, but VAT and the deposit are not added later.
Choose Trinity if you want free delivery to your hotel and no deposit.
7. POF Rental
POF Rental is the Dubai company behind the "Luxury Car Rental Abu Dhabi City Centre" listing, with free delivery in Abu Dhabi city centre and top-end cars such as the Urus SE and Revuelto.
Despite its listing name, it has no Abu Dhabi branch, and it asks a deposit unless you are a member. It has no Trustpilot page.
Choose POF Rental if you want a top-end car delivered to a city-centre hotel.
8. Edel & Stark
Edel & Stark is a Swiss luxury rental group with a Dubai office and a meet-and-greet service at Abu Dhabi airport, renting cars up to Bugatti.
It is the most expensive company here and gives Abu Dhabi prices only on request. It has 4.7 on Trustpilot from 161 reviews, though few are recent.
Choose Edel & Stark if you want to be met at Abu Dhabi airport with a rare car.
Also delivering to Abu Dhabi
Silverstone delivers free anywhere in Abu Dhabi, with a Urus from AED 3,200, but has a Trustpilot score of 2.5 with deposit complaints. Royal Ride Abu Dhabi shows cars from AED 2,200 but gives no address or company name.
Is It Cheaper to Rent in Abu Dhabi or From Dubai?
For a one- to three-day rental, an Abu Dhabi company or one with free delivery is usually cheaper, because a Dubai company's delivery fee of AED 500 to 2,000 wipes out its lower day rate. For a week or more, the fee is spread over more days and a cheaper Dubai price can win.
The same holds for a Rolls-Royce Cullinan for three days at Abu Dhabi airport: about AED 9,660 at Phantom, AED 9,797 at Masterkey with delivery both ways, and AED 10,200 at Trinity before any airport charge.
How Do Tolls Work in Abu Dhabi?
Abu Dhabi's Darb tolls cost AED 4 a crossing from 7 to 9 am and 3 to 7 pm, and are free on Sundays and public holidays. There is no longer a daily or monthly cap. The gates are on the bridges onto Abu Dhabi island, so a drive from Dubai also passes Dubai's Salik gates. Rental companies bill both after the rental, often with their own fee on top.
Before You Book a Luxury Car in Abu Dhabi
- Ask for the delivery fee to your address and the airport. Each way, in writing.
- Compare the total, not the day rate. A cheaper Dubai car can cost more once delivery is added.
- Ask whether VAT is included. Phantom, Superior and POF do not say.
- Check the kilometre limit. A round trip between Abu Dhabi and Dubai is about 280 km, more than many daily limits.
- Ask how Darb and Salik are billed. Both arrive after the rental, often with an admin fee.
