What Is Downtown Design?

Downtown Design is a design fair where brands and designers show furniture, lighting, kitchens, bathrooms, surfaces and rugs. It calls itself the leading fair for contemporary, high-quality design in the Middle East. It is the anchor event of Dubai Design Week and is owned by the Art Dubai Group.

The fair is for two kinds of visitor.

  • Design professionals come to find products and suppliers for their projects.
  • Homeowners and design lovers come to see new collections and, in many cases, to buy or order pieces.

It is different from the rest of Dubai Design Week in one way: the rest of the week is free, and the fair needs a ticket. In its latest edition the fair showed more than 300 brands.

Downtown Design Location

Downtown Design is held inside Dubai Design District (d3), the same district as the rest of Dubai Design Week. Platinumlist lists the venue as "Downtown Design, Dubai Design District". The exact building or outdoor site inside d3 has not been published for 2026.

To get there, take the Metro to Dubai Mall / Burj Khalifa, then RTA bus D03 to the Dubai Design District 1 stop. Shuttle buses run from that stop to the fair. If you drive, paid valet parking is at the fair entrance, and other parking in d3 is free for the first two hours. Taxis have their own drop-off point in front of the main entrance.

Downtown Design Exhibitors List

The official list shows 71 exhibitors from 16 countries. Most are from the UAE (33) and Italy (16), and the Italian number is larger than it looks: the Italian Trade Agency alone brings 18 Italian companies.

Regional design programmes

Some stands are not brands but programmes for new designers. Tanween by Tashkeel shows designers from its development programme for emerging designers in the UAE. Athath Fellowship shows market-ready furniture prototypes made by its fellows over six months. 1971 Design Space takes part with SILA Collective, and Al Ghadeer Emirati Crafts supports more than 500 Emirati artisans.

What to See Beyond the Stands

Three features are worth planning your visit around: the Memphis exhibition, the Buccellati showcase and the UAE Designer Exhibition.

  • "Aquae Mirabiles" by Buccellati: an immersive showcase by the Italian house Buccellati with the British artist Luke Edward Hall, inspired by water, sea life and myths.
  • Clicquot Cafe: the Veuve Clicquot food and drink lounge with an outdoor terrace. This year its concept is by the British-Nigerian artist Yinka Ilori.

UAE Designer Exhibition: Inherited Futures

The UAE Designer Exhibition shows work by 30 UAE-based designers, with the theme "Inherited Futures". It is supported by Dubai Culture, and the architect and designer AlZaina Lootah is the 2026 design collaborator. The theme asks how traditional materials, rituals and ways of making can shape new design.

Some of the pieces already shown include a console based on burqa-making by Dana Binmahmood, a chair grown from mycelium and date-palm waste by NUMU, and lamps made with desert sand and pink onyx by Eman Shafiq.

The Forum: Talks at Downtown Design

The Forum is the fair's stage for talks, panel discussions, keynotes and masterclasses. In 2026 it is designed by BONE Studio, and the interior architect Tristan Auer is a keynote speaker. Auer is leading the restoration of Burj Al Arab.

The 2026 talk schedule is not published yet. Past speakers include Tom Dixon, Marcel Wanders, India Mahdavi and Christian Louboutin. Because The Forum is inside the fair, you need fair entry to attend. Whether talks need a separate booking has not been announced.

Downtown Design Tickets and Registration

The public buys a ticket on Platinumlist: AED 80 for one day or AED 150 for all four public days. Design professionals register as trade visitors on an online form instead, and journalists apply for press access. Our Dubai Design Week tickets guide walks you through buying a ticket and the trade form step by step.

Architects and interior designers working on large projects can also apply for Trade/Connect, a hosted programme with meetings, a lounge and free valet parking. Places are limited.
