These are the objects you see in every beautifully decorated Eid home in Dubai. Each one has a specific placement that makes it work. Below: the item, what it is for people new to Gulf traditions, and exactly where it goes.

Budget option: AED 150–400

Eid Al Adha is not about how much you spend — it is about the warmth in the room when guests walk through the door. You do not need a large budget to make your home feel genuinely festive. A few well-chosen items, placed with care, create a celebration that money cannot manufacture.

BUDGET SETUP · AED 150–400

Here is where everything goes:

• At the entrance: Place one brass lantern on the left side of the front door and one on the right, sitting on the floor. Hang the Eid Mubarak banner directly above the door frame — not across the sofa wall, it reads better at the door where guests see it first.
• In the living room: Set the date tray with Medjool dates at the exact centre of the coffee table. That is the only item for this room. One well-set coffee table beats five scattered objects across the shelves.
• At the dining table: Place the white flowers in a vase or ceramic pot at the centre of the table. If you need serving space during the meal, move the vase slightly off-centre — the visual anchor holds either way.

Mid-range option: AED 500–1,200

When you want the home to feel truly dressed — entrance, living room and dining table all working together — this is the range that does it. All three spaces get attention, and guests feel the difference from the moment they arrive.

MID-RANGE SETUP · AED 500–1,200

Here is where everything goes:

• At the entrance: Put the floor-standing lantern directly inside the front door, against the wall on one side of the hallway. It does not need a pair — a single tall lantern placed with intention reads better than two small ones crowding the door.
• In the living room — the feature wall: Hang the calligraphy print above the sofa, centred horizontally. Aim for the centre of the frame to sit at roughly 150 cm from the floor — that is sitting eye level, exactly where guests look when they settle into the sofa.
• In the living room — the coffee table: Place a large tray on the coffee table. Put the copper date tray on the left side of the tray and the dallah and finjan cups on the right. Keeping them on one tray makes the setup look deliberate rather than random.
• In the living room — the crescent: Hang the crescent ornament in the window nearest to the sofa, or suspend it from a curtain rail above it. If you have ceiling hooks, it works above the coffee table too.
• At the dining table: Lay the runner the full length of the table, centred. Place the florist flower arrangement at the centre of the runner. If the table is long enough, set one small lantern at each far end — but only if it leaves clear serving space between them.

Luxury option: AED 1,500 and above

At the luxury level, the home stops being decorated and starts being designed. You are commissioning an atmosphere, not just buying objects. The difference is bespoke florals, velvet-accented dining and a scent that announces the occasion before guests see a single item.

Here is where everything goes:

• At the entrance — the scent: Place the oud incense burner on a small side table or shelf near the front door. Light it 20 minutes before the first guests arrive, then switch it off. The scent stays; the smoke does not. This is the first thing guests experience and the one they comment on most.
• At the entrance — the lanterns: Two tall gold lanterns flanking the front door, one on each side, at floor level. If your florist is installing a floral arch in the hallway, the lanterns frame it. If the floral installation is a centrepiece for the dining table instead, the entrance runs on lanterns and oud only.
• At the entrance — the florals: If you ordered a hallway floral arch or large arrangement, the florist installs it directly facing the door — the first thing guests see as they step inside. Brief the florist on ceiling height and wall colour before they arrive.
• In the living room: Hang the large calligraphy canvas on the feature wall above the sofa, spanning as much of the wall width as possible. On the coffee table, place a mirrored tray and set the gold-plated dallah on one side and the elevated dates and sweets spread on the other. Remove everything else from the coffee table — the tray is the focal point and it needs clear space around it.
• At the dining table: Lay the velvet runner the full length of the table first. Tie velvet chair sashes around the back of each dining chair before setting the plates. Set one tall gold lantern at each far end of the table. If the bespoke flower arrangement is for the table rather than the hallway, place it at the centre of the runner. The combination of runner, sashes, lanterns and flowers turns the table into a proper occasion.

Kids party setup: the Eidi corner

If children are attending your Eid gathering, this is an addition to whichever setup you choose above — it does not replace it. Think of it as a dedicated corner, separate from the main decoration, built entirely for the youngest guests.

Place the sweets tray right beside it — chocolates, ma’amoul and wrapped candies in one dish. Make it visible and accessible; the whole point is that children spot it immediately when they walk in.
• At children’s seating (if they have their own spots): Put one mini lantern at each child’s place as a table setting. They are decorative and children love having their own personal piece of the celebration on the table in front of them.
