To read

UAE petrol prices for June 2026 are announced on 31 May and take effect on 1 June. Super 98 currently costs Dh3.66 per litre — up 49% since February 2026, driven by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz during the US-Israel-Iran war. Brent crude averaged roughly $106 per barrel through May. Whether June prices rise, hold, or fall depends on whether the US-Iran peace deal closes before 31 May.

LATEST UPDATE: UAE Fuel Prices June 2026 Announced

UAE Petrol Price June 2026

When is the June 2026 price announced — and what is expected?

The UAE Fuel Price Committee announces June 2026 petrol and diesel rates on 31 May 2026. New prices take effect from 1 June 2026.

The official announcement is published first by WAM — the Emirates News Agency — at wam.ae, typically between 9pm and midnight on the 31st.

As for what to expect: the most likely outcome is a small rise or a flat rate. A meaningful drop is only possible if the US-Iran peace deal closes before 31 May and pushes oil below $90 per barrel. The full breakdown of all three scenarios is in the next section.

How UAE fuel pricing works

The UAE Fuel Price Committee sets retail petrol and diesel rates on the final day of every month.

Prices take effect on the 1st of the following month. The system has operated this way since the UAE deregulated fuel pricing in September 2015, aligning pump prices with international crude oil averages.

There is a built-in one-month lag. June prices reflect May’s oil market, not today’s. That lag is the single most important thing to understand when reading any forecast.

Will UAE Petrol Prices Go Up or Down in June 2026?

The short answer

It depends on one thing: whether the US-Iran peace deal closes before 31 May.

Brent crude averaged roughly $106 per barrel through most of May — higher than April’s $99. That keeps upward pressure on the June calculation. But Brent fell more than 6% in a single session on 25 May, landing near $97, as US President Donald Trump stated a deal was “largely negotiated.”

The May average now depends on the final five days. Those days carry unusual weight.

Three scenarios for 1 June

🔴 No deal — Hormuz stays blocked

Brent holds above $100 through 31 May

→ Petrol rises for a 4th consecutive month

Super 98: Dh3.75–3.90
Special 95: Dh3.63–3.77
E-Plus 91: Dh3.56–3.70

🟡 Partial deal — limited reopening

Brent settles $93–100 for the month’s close

→ Prices roughly flat, marginal movement

Super 98: Dh3.55–3.70
Special 95: Dh3.43–3.57
E-Plus 91: Dh3.35–3.50

🟢 Full deal — Hormuz reopens

Brent drops below $90 before 31 May

First price drop since January 2026

Super 98: Dh3.25–3.45
Special 95: Dh3.13–3.32
E-Plus 91: Dh3.05–3.24

What the analysts say

Rania Gule, senior market analyst for MENA at XS.com, told Khaleej Times that any confirmed US-Iran agreement pushes oil 4–8% lower in the first phase alone.

The critical word is “first phase.” Sustained relief at the pump arrives over weeks, not in a single jump on 1 June.

UAE Diesel Price June 2026

Diesel is frozen — and that is deliberate

Unlike petrol, diesel in the UAE has not changed since April. The government stepped in and held the price steady at Dh4.69 per litre for May, rather than letting it rise again with global oil markets.

The reason is practical. Diesel powers trucks, delivery vehicles, construction equipment, and most of the logistics industry. A further hike feeds directly into the cost of goods, food, and construction across the UAE. The committee chose to absorb that pressure rather than pass it to businesses and consumers.

Petrol carries no such protection — it moves freely every month. The diesel freeze is a one-sector intervention, not a general fuel subsidy.

Will diesel be frozen again in June?

If a US-Iran deal closes and Brent falls, the committee faces a simpler choice — allowing diesel to drop alongside petrol. If no deal lands, the freeze is the most likely outcome again, as a further diesel hike carries significant pass-through costs across retail, food supply, and construction.

Why Did UAE Petrol Prices Rise 50% Since February 2026?

One date explains everything

On 28 February 2026, the United States and Israel launched coordinated air strikes on Iran. Iran’s response — blocking commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz — produced the most severe energy supply disruption in recorded history.

🌊 What Is the Strait of Hormuz?

A 33-kilometre-wide waterway between Iran and Oman. Roughly 20 million barrels of oil pass through it daily in normal conditions — one-fifth of global supply. Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, and the UAE all export the majority of their oil through this single chokepoint. Iran largely blocked it from late February 2026, removing around 14 million barrels per day from world markets.

The UAE bore the sharpest direct impact of any country in the conflict. Iran fired more than 2,800 missiles and drones at the Emirates — more than at any other nation, including Israel. UAE air defences intercepted the vast majority, but the commercial disruption to Dubai and Abu Dhabi extended throughout the conflict period.

How the US-Iran Deal Affects UAE Fuel Prices — and Why Relief Takes Longer Than You Think

A deal does not fix prices overnight

Sultan Al Jaber, CEO of ADNOC — the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, the UAE’s state energy producer — has stated publicly that full oil flows through Hormuz will not return before Q1–Q2 2027, even if the conflict ended today.

There are four layers of delay between a signed agreement and cheaper petrol at the pump.

🏗️ Port backlogsQueued tankers clear Hormuz and Gulf ports6–8 weeks minimum
🛢️ Supply normalisationFull pre-war oil volumes restoredQ1–Q2 2027
📅 UAE price lagCommittee reflects June oil average in July prices1 calendar month

What independent analysts forecast

BMI — a unit of Fitch Solutions, the global credit and research group — revised its average 2026 Brent forecast to $90 per barrel, specifically factoring in a six-to-eight-week post-conflict normalisation window.

That forecast implies petrol relief builds gradually across summer — not in a single drop on 1 June. Even the most optimistic scenario brings Super 98 to Dh3.25–3.45, not back to February’s Dh2.45.

📊 The realistic recovery path

June 2026: first possible dip if deal closes before 31 May
July–August 2026: steady decline as post-deal oil market settles
Q4 2026 onward: prices approach pre-conflict range if Hormuz fully normalises
February 2026 prices (Dh2.45 Super 98): not expected before Q1 2027 at earliest

Frequently Asked Questions — UAE Petrol Price June 2026

When are UAE petrol prices for June 2026 announced?

The UAE Fuel Price Committee announces June 2026 petrol and diesel prices on Saturday, 31 May 2026. New prices take effect from Monday, 1 June 2026. The announcement is published first by the Emirates News Agency (WAM) at wam.ae, typically between 9pm and midnight on the 31st. All UAE petrol stations update simultaneously at midnight.

What are the current UAE petrol prices in May 2026?

UAE petrol prices for May 2026 are: Super 98 at Dh3.66 per litre, Special 95 at Dh3.55 per litre, and E-Plus 91 at Dh3.48 per litre. These prices have been in effect since 1 May 2026 and represent the third consecutive monthly increase following the Strait of Hormuz crisis, which began when Iran blocked the waterway after US and Israeli strikes on 28 February 2026.

What is the UAE diesel price in May 2026?

Diesel is priced at Dh4.69 per litre in May 2026 — the same rate as April. The UAE Fuel Price Committee froze diesel specifically to protect logistics, transport operators, and supply chain businesses from further cost shocks during the Hormuz crisis. This is a targeted intervention, not a general consumer subsidy. Petrol prices for private motorists are not covered by the same protection and move freely each month.

Will UAE petrol prices go up or down in June 2026?

June 2026 petrol prices depend on Brent crude’s average for all of May and on whether a US-Iran deal closes before 31 May. Brent averaged roughly $106 through most of May, above April’s $99 average — which keeps upward pressure on June rates. However, Brent fell to around $97 on 25 May as a deal appeared close. If Brent stays below $90 before 31 May, June brings the first price drop since January. If talks collapse and Brent stays above $100, prices rise for a fourth straight month.

Why did UAE petrol prices rise so much in 2026?

UAE petrol prices rose sharply in March, April, and May 2026 because the 2026 Strait of Hormuz crisis removed roughly 14 million barrels per day of oil from global markets. The crisis began on 28 February 2026 when the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran, and Iran’s IRGC responded by blocking commercial shipping through Hormuz. Brent crude rose from ~$69 in February to ~$106 in May. UAE pump prices followed with a one-month lag.

Does the UAE government subsidise petrol prices?

No. The UAE removed petrol subsidies in September 2015 and now aligns pump prices with international crude oil markets each month. The Fuel Price Committee adjusts rates on the 31st of every month. One exception in 2026: diesel is frozen at Dh4.69 to protect logistics and transport operators — a targeted sector intervention, not a consumer subsidy. Petrol prices carry no such protection.

What is the cheapest petrol grade at UAE petrol stations?

The cheapest petrol grade at UAE petrol stations is E-Plus 91, priced at Dh3.48 per litre in May 2026. E-Plus 91 is a lower-octane unleaded petrol suitable for vehicles that do not require higher grades. Special 95 at Dh3.55 is the most widely used grade for everyday cars. Super 98 at Dh3.66 is designed for high-performance and luxury vehicles. Always use the grade your vehicle manufacturer recommends.

When will UAE petrol prices return to February 2026 levels?

UAE petrol prices are not expected to return to February 2026 levels (Super 98 at Dh2.45) before Q1 2027 at the earliest, even if a US-Iran peace deal is signed immediately. ADNOC CEO Sultan Al Jaber has stated publicly that full Hormuz supply normalisation will not happen before Q1-Q2 2027. BMI (Fitch Solutions) forecasts Brent averaging $90 for 2026 — which implies gradual price relief through the second half of 2026, but not an immediate return to pre-conflict rates.
