Navratri 2026 in Dubai: October Dates, Events, Wishes, Garba & More
Navratri 2026 will run from Sunday 11 October to Tuesday 20 October 2026, finishing with Dussehra on that last day.
There is a particular kind of happiness that arrives in Dubai around the second week of October, when the evenings finally cool, Meena Bazaar fills up with mirror-work skirts, and somewhere between Zabeel Park and Jebel Ali the whole Indian community seems to be awake at the same time. Navratri here works a little differently from home.
The short answer
Navratri 2026 will run from Sunday 11 October to Tuesday 20 October 2026, finishing with Dussehra on that last day.
- Day one falls on Sunday 11 October, and the kalash needs to go up between 6:15 AM and 10:08 AM, Dubai time.
- Ashtami is Monday 19 October, which is a day later than most calendars will tell you.
- The colours run orange, white, red, royal blue, yellow, green, grey, purple and peacock green, in that order.
- Garba nights run from 3 to 18 October across Zabeel Park, Creek Park and Dubai Studio City, starting at AED 20.
- None of it is a public holiday here, so you will be fitting the whole thing around a normal working week.
Navratri 2026
Navratri 2026 will take over more of Dubai than most people expect. Garba fills three public parks and an indoor ice rink, the temple at Jebel Ali opens its doors from six in the morning, and the lanes behind Meena Bazaar turn into a chaniya choli market for the better part of a fortnight.

Navratri 2026 Dates in Dubai
Navratri does not run on calendar dates. It runs on tithis, and a tithi is simply a lunar day, measured by the moon. Because each one begins and ends at its own hour, and because those hours are counted from local sunrise, the festival lands slightly differently depending on where in the world you are standing.
Dubai sits about ninety minutes behind India on that count. A tithi that ends at 10:52 in the morning in Delhi ends at 9:22 here, which is enough to move a puja and, twice this year, enough to move an entire day.
| Day | Date | Tithi | Tithi ends, Dubai time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Sun 11 Oct | Pratipada | 8:02 PM |
| Day 2 | Mon 12 Oct | Dwitiya | 8:44 PM |
| Day 3 | Tue 13 Oct | Tritiya | 9:58 PM |
| Day 4 | Wed 14 Oct | Chaturthi | 11:44 PM |
| Day 5 | Thu 15 Oct | Panchami | 1:56 AM |
| Day 6 | Fri 16 Oct | Shashthi | 4:25 AM |
| Day 7 | Sat 17 Oct | Saptami | runs past midnight |
| Day 7 again | Sun 18 Oct | Saptami | 6:59 AM |
| Day 8 | Mon 19 Oct | Ashtami | 9:22 AM |
| Day 9 | Tue 20 Oct | Navami | 11:21 AM |
| Day 10 | Tue 20 Oct | Dashami, Dussehra | afternoon |
We have provided the dates, timings to the best of our knowledge. However, it is recommended that you consult your family purohit, or nearest temple or pandits for more accurate details.
Ashtami is the 19th, not the 18th
You will find plenty of sites printing 18 October, and they have got there by counting nine dates in a row without checking the tithi underneath them. Saptami is still running at sunrise on both Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 this year, so everything after it shifts along by a day. Ask any temple in the city and it will tell you the same thing.
Navratri 2026 Muhurat Times in Dubai
A muhurat is a stretch of time considered right for a particular ritual. It helps to think of it as a window rather than a moment, because anywhere inside it will do. These four are the ones worth writing down, and all of them are measured against Dubai's sunrise rather than Delhi's.
| What | When | Dubai time | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ghatasthapana | Sun 11 Oct | 6:15 AM - 10:08 AM | Setting up the kalash on day one ** |
| Abhijit | Sun 11 Oct | 11:41 AM - 12:29 PM | The backup, if the morning gets away from you |
| Sandhi Puja | Mon 19 Oct | 8:58 AM - 9:46 AM | The 48 minutes where Ashtami becomes Navami |
| Vijaya | Tue 20 Oct | 1:58 PM - 2:44 PM | Dussehra |
These are calculated for Dubai and checked against Drik Panchang, which they match to within two minutes. Temples here sometimes work to a narrower window of their own, and if yours publishes a timing, that is the one to follow.
Navratri Ashtami 2026 and Dussehra in Dubai
Ashtami 2026 falls on Monday 19 October, which means the fullest morning of the whole festival lands squarely on a working day. This is the day of Kanya Pujan, when young girls are fed and honoured, and it is also the morning the queue at the Jebel Ali temple stretches back towards the car park. If you want a proper darshan rather than a shuffle past the shrine, be there before eight and go into the office late.
Navami and Dussehra end up sharing a date this year, because Navami finishes at 11:21 AM and Dashami takes over from there. Both fall on Tuesday 20 October. The Vijaya muhurat sits at 1:58 PM, which for most people here is the middle of a workday, so families tend to mark it in the evening instead. That is perfectly acceptable, and it is what the temples plan around.
If your family follows the Bengali calendar, the immersion and sindoor khela move to Wednesday 21 October.
Navratri Colours 2026
Each day of Navratri has its own colour, and all anybody really does is wear it. The colours, days and dates for Navratri 2026 are below, along with the form of the Goddess worshipped on each night. Those names — Maa Shailaputri, Maa Brahmacharini and the rest — are the nine forms Durga is believed to take across the nine nights, one for each day, known together as the Navdurga.
Detailed guide on colours: Navratri Colours 2026
It is worth saying plainly that the colour custom is not a religious rule. No puja depends on it and nothing goes wrong if you skip it. It began as a bit of fun in Gujarat, travelled through WhatsApp forwards, and stuck because people enjoy it.
For what each colour means and the full day-by-day detail, see our Navratri Colours 2026 guide.
Navratri Dress in Dubai
At most Dubai garba nights, traditional dress is a condition of entry rather than a suggestion. The Creek Park listing states it outright, and the bigger productions expect Gujarati festive wear on the floor.
- For women that means a chaniya choli, the full mirror-worked skirt with a fitted top and dupatta.
- For men, a kediyu worn over a dhoti or churidar
Where Dubai differs from home is the weather. Mid-October evenings here still sit close to 30°C, the park venues are entirely open air, and there is no breeze in an amphitheatre. A heavy Kutchi lehenga that is perfect for an Ahmedabad November will have you sitting out the fourth song.
Survives a Dubai night
- Cotton or rayon chaniya choli with light mirror work
- Cotton kediyu rather than brocade
- A dupatta you can pin down so your hands stay free
- Flat juttis or kolhapuris, because the parks are grass and steps
- A spare kurta left in the car for the drive home
You will regret it
- Silk or velvet anywhere outdoors
- Heavy oxidised jewellery that catches on dandiya sticks
- Heels of any kind at Zabeel or Creek Park
- Sleeveless or above-the-knee if a temple visit is also on the plan
- Leaving the shopping until the day itself
Where to buy it. Meena Bazaar in Bur Dubai is the default, and the lanes around Al Fahidi carry the widest range of chaniya cholis, kediyus, oxidised jewellery and dandiya sticks in the city. Karama Market is the cheaper alternative and good for children's outfits. Both are stripped bare over the first weekend of the season, so anything still hanging there by the second week is usually what nobody else wanted. If you are caught short, several venues including Zabeel Park sell dandiya sticks at stalls inside.
One more thing. If you are pairing a garba night with a temple visit, dress for the temple. Shoulders and knees covered, footwear off at the door, and nothing sheer. It is easier to add a dupatta than to be turned back at Jebel Ali after a forty-minute drive.
Hindu Temples in Dubai You Can Visit During Navratri in Dubai in 2026
Dubai's temples changed shape recently, and a lot of Navratri guides have not caught up. The Shiva Mandir that stood in Bur Dubai since 1958 moved to Jebel Ali in January 2024, along with the gurudwara. If you have not been in a couple of years, the temple you remember behind Meena Bazaar is no longer the one you are heading to.
| Temple | Where | Timings | What happens during Navratri |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hindu Temple Dubai | Worship Village, Jebel Ali. Open in Maps | 6:00 AM - 8:30 PM, morning aarti 7:00 AM, evening aarti 7:30 PM | The main Durga shrine sits among sixteen deities here. Extended evening aartis, cultural programmes and the heaviest Ashtami crowds in the city. ** |
| Shree Krishna Haveli | Al Fahidi, Bur Dubai. Open in Maps | Darshan in slots from around 5:00 AM, and again from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM | The Vaishnav centre of the city. Busiest at the evening bhog and sandhya darshan, and the easiest temple to reach by metro. |
| Shirdi Sai Baba Mandir | Bur Dubai Old Souk. Open in Maps | Roughly 7:00 AM to 8:30 PM, aartis morning and evening | Quieter than the others through Navratri, which makes it the sensible choice on Ashtami if you only want a few unhurried minutes. |
| Guru Nanak Darbar | Worship Village, Jebel Ali. Open in Maps | Daily, langar served through the day | Not a Hindu temple, but it sits beside the Jebel Ali complex and serves langar to anyone. Useful on a long temple morning. |
Getting there. Jebel Ali is a drive for almost everybody, and the nearest metro stations, Energy and Ibn Battuta, still leave you a taxi ride short; buses F44 and X92 run that way. Bur Dubai is much simpler — Al Fahidi station on the Green Line puts you about ten minutes' walk from both temples, through the lanes everybody calls Hindi Lane.
While you are in Hindi Lane. Those same lanes are the fastest place in Dubai to buy a complete puja set. Kalash, coconut, mango leaves, barley seed, red chunri and loose flowers are all there within about fifteen minutes of walking, which is handy if you are setting up at home on the Sunday morning. Al Adil Trading branches carry the grains if the Old Souk is too far to bother with.
Ashtami morning, honestly
Monday 19 October will be the busiest morning of the festival at Jebel Ali. Either arrive before eight, or go to Bur Dubai instead and save yourself an hour.
Garba and Dandiya in Dubai During Navratri 2026
Garba is a circle dance. Everyone moves anticlockwise around a central lamp doing the same steps and clapping on the beat, while a live singer and a dhol push the tempo up through the night. Dandiya raas is the version danced in pairs with a stick in each hand, and most Dubai nights run both, usually garba first and dandiya once the floor has warmed up.
A Dubai garba night has its own shape. Doors open somewhere between 6:30 and 8 PM, the music stops around 11 or 11:30 to keep the venues within noise hours, and the whole thing is alcohol-free and thoroughly family-run — children under three go free at most events. The crowd skews Gujarati but is nowhere near only Gujarati, and nobody on that floor will care whether you know the steps.
If you would rather arrive knowing them, garba classes run across the city through September. Navrang, which puts on the big indoor festival, teaches at studios around the UAE from around AED 300 for a course, and several Dubai dance studios add short beginner sessions in the weeks before the season. Otherwise, stand behind somebody competent, copy their feet, and the basic three-clap pattern will land within a few songs.
Go to a park. Zabeel or Creek, AED 20 to 25, open air, bigger circles and a much better atmosphere. All you need extra is a Nol card for the gate.
Go indoor. Navrang Navratri at Al Nasr Leisureland runs on an air-conditioned ice rink floor, and Rangilo Re at Dubai Studio City is an indoor sound stage with 2,000 free parking spaces. You pay more and you stay comfortable.
If it is only one night, make it Friday 16 or Saturday 17 October.
Do
- Book online in advance, because park nights sell out over the weekend
- Carry a Nol card, since Zabeel and Creek Park gates take nothing else
- Bring your own dandiya sticks, or buy them at the stalls inside
- Check your gate number, as both parks have five or more entrances
- Arrive when doors open if you want space in the inner circle
Don't
- Turn up in shorts or gym wear to a traditional-attire event
- Carry outside food or drink through the park gates
- Bring a professional camera to a ticketed show
- Assume parking is close, because it rarely is
- Book a late Sunday night before an Ashtami Monday at work
“The garba is not the hard part. The parking is the hard part.”

Navratri Events in Dubai in 2026
Dubai's garba season opens before the festival technically does, and the calendar below is why. Rangilo Re lands a full week before day one, the Creek Park nights straddle the opening, and the heavyweight shows cluster on the weekend of 16 to 18 October, which is the only weekend the festival actually gives you.
| Event | Venue and what it is | Dates and times | From |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rangilo Re | Sound Stages, Dubai Studio City. Mumbai's garba brand making its Dubai debut, with playback singer Parthiv Gohil live, a full band and orchestra, DJ Buddha between sets, indoor and air conditioned, 2,000 free parking spaces | Sat 3 Oct. Doors 6 PM, music 7 PM to 11 PM | AED 99 early bird, AED 149 general ** |
| Dyine Dandiya Night | Creek Park, Gate 4. Three open-air nights with Pooja Parmar, Nandlal Chhanga and Parthi Vyas. Traditional attire is mandatory and you bring your own sticks | Fri 9 to Sun 11 Oct, 8 PM to 11 PM | AED 25 |
| Garba Dandiya Night | Zabeel Park Amphitheatre. Live music in the open-air amphitheatre, food and dandiya stalls on site | Sun 11 Oct. Doors 6:30 PM, show 7 PM | AED 20 plus AED 5 park entry |
| Navratri Utsav | Zabeel Park Amphitheatre. The best-known of the park nights, running live garba and dandiya across the two biggest weekend evenings | Fri 16 and Sat 17 Oct. Doors 7 PM, start 7:30 PM | AED 20 to 100 plus AED 5 park entry ** |
| Navrang Navratri | Al Nasr Leisureland, Oud Metha. Dubai's largest indoor Navratri, staged on the air-conditioned ice rink floor. The 2025 edition ran twelve nights with themed evenings, live bands, dhol, food courts and DJ after-parties | Expected late Sept to mid Oct. Dates not yet announced | AED 35 in 2025 |
Because the UAE week runs Monday to Friday, only three nights of Navratri 2026 fall on a weekend. The organisers have clearly worked that out, which is exactly why the biggest shows sit where they do.
Listings checked on 20 September 2026. More Navratri events in Dubai will be announced through late September and early October, and community garbas at Indian schools and society halls in Karama, Oud Metha and Al Quoz usually go on sale last. Always confirm on the ticketing page before travelling.
Happy Navratri Wishes
Tap any message below and it selects the whole thing, ready to copy and send. They are grouped by who you are sending to, because what works for your mother tends not to work for a client.
Nine nights, nine forms of the Goddess, and really just one prayer running through all of them — that you and everyone you love stay safe, stay well, and stay together.
May this Navratri fill your home with light, your heart with courage, and your table with far too much food. 🌸
May the first night bring you strength, the middle nights bring you joy, and the ninth night bring you peace — and may whatever you are quietly hoping for this year finally arrive.
Jai Mata Di!
The kalash is set, the lamp is lit, and I did every bit of it exactly the way you taught me — right down to checking the muhurat twice.
Nine nights away from home never quite feels right. But the aarti happens at the same hour wherever we are, and for those few minutes it feels like we are all in the same room again.
Missing you both. See you on the call. ❤️
We may be a few thousand kilometres away, but between the temple at Jebel Ali, the garba at Zabeel Park and the dandiya sticks from Meena Bazaar, this city does a rather good job of it.
Wishing you all nine bright nights and a beautiful Dussehra.
May these nine nights bring you strength for whatever you are building, clarity for whatever you are deciding, and the good health to enjoy both.
Here is to a bright festive season and a strong close to the year.
Happy Navratri! May your circle be wide, your steps land on the beat, and your dandiya survive all the way to Dussehra.
See you on the floor. 🪘
Of all nine nights, this is the one that feels the fullest — the kanya pujan, the queue outside the temple, the smell of prasad drifting down the corridor.
May Maa Mahagauri bless your home with peace and your family with everything it needs, this year and every year after.
Ten days of prayer, and it all comes down to one simple idea — that whatever is heavy, unfair or frightening in your life does not get the final word.
May everything that has been weighing on you go up with the effigy tonight, and may the year ahead be lighter than the one behind you.
Navratri The Festival
Everything up to here has been about keeping Navratri in Dubai. This last part is the festival itself, which is the same wherever in the world you happen to be.
What Navratri Celebrates
Navratri means nine nights. Across those nights, Durga is believed to have fought and finally defeated the buffalo demon Mahishasura, a battle that ends on the tenth day with Vijayadashami, better known as Dussehra. In the north the same tenth day marks Rama's victory over Ravana, which is why effigies burn in some cities and idols are carried to the water in others. Underneath both stories sits the same idea, and it is a reassuring one: that whatever is cruel or frightening does not get to win permanently.
The October festival is the largest of the year, and you will see it called Shardiya Navratri, Sharad Navratri, Ashwin Navratri or Durga Navratri depending on who printed the flyer. Navrang Navratri refers to the nine-colour custom, although in Dubai it also happens to be the name of one of the biggest garba events in the city.
The Nine Nights and the Nine Devis
Each night belongs to a different form of Durga, and the nine together are called the Navdurga. They run in a fixed order: Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kalaratri, Mahagauri and Siddhidatri. Families keep a lamp lit through all nine nights beside a kalash of water topped with a coconut, with barley sown in a bowl alongside it that sprouts a little further each day.
Fasting Through the Nine Days
A Navratri vrat sets aside grain, onion, garlic and ordinary table salt, which leaves fruit, dairy, potato, sabudana and flours ground from water chestnut, buckwheat or amaranth, seasoned with rock salt instead. Food that fits the rules is called farali, and in Dubai you will see it on menus across Karama and Bur Dubai through the nine days. Al Adil Trading and the larger Lulu stores carry the flours and the sendha namak from the first week of the season. If you are fasting strictly in October heat, keep drinking water, and speak to a doctor first if you have any medical condition.
The Four Navratris of the Year
Four Navratris fall in a year, though only two are widely celebrated. The other two are the Gupt Navratris, gupt meaning hidden, kept mostly by people doing serious Devi practice and passing with very little public notice. By the time October arrives, three of the four are already behind us.
- 19-28 Jan 2026Magha Gupt NavratriQuiet, and largely unmarked in public.
- 19-26 Mar 2026Chaitra Navratri 2026The spring one. Eight days, ending with Ram Navami.
- 15-23 Jul 2026Ashadha Gupt NavratriThe second hidden Navratri.
- 11-20 Oct 2026Shardiya Navratri 2026This one. Garba, Durga Puja, Dussehra.
FAQs
When is Navratri in 2026?
Navratri 2026 runs from Sunday 11 October to Tuesday 20 October, and Dussehra falls on that same last day, Tuesday 20 October.
What are the Navratri 2026 dates in Dubai?
The dates are the same as anywhere else, but the timings run about 90 minutes behind India because tithis are counted from local sunrise. Day one is Sunday 11 October, with the Ghatasthapana window running from 6:15 AM to 10:08 AM Dubai time.
When is Ashtami 2026 in Dubai?
Ashtami 2026 falls on Monday 19 October. The tithi begins at 6:59 AM on Sunday 18 October in Dubai and runs until 9:22 AM on Monday, so Monday is the morning it actually holds.
What are the Navratri colours 2026?
They run orange, white, red, royal blue, yellow, green, grey, purple and peacock green, from 11 to 19 October. It is a custom rather than a religious rule, so nothing depends on keeping it.
Which Hindu temples in Dubai can I visit during Navratri?
The Hindu Temple Dubai at the Jebel Ali Worship Village is the largest and holds the main Durga shrine. Shree Krishna Haveli and the Shirdi Sai Baba Mandir are both in Bur Dubai, a short walk from Al Fahidi metro. Note that the old Bur Dubai Shiva Mandir moved to Jebel Ali in January 2024.
Which Navratri events are on in Dubai in 2026?
Rangilo Re at Dubai Studio City on 3 October, Dyine Dandiya Night at Creek Park from 9 to 11 October, Garba Dandiya Night at Zabeel Park on 11 October, and Navratri Utsav at Zabeel Park on 16 and 17 October. Navrang Navratri at Al Nasr Leisureland is expected but has not announced dates.
What is Navrang Navratri?
Navrang means nine colours, so it is another way of referring to the nine-colour custom. In Dubai it is also the name of a large indoor, air-conditioned garba festival held on the ice rink floor at Al Nasr Leisureland in Oud Metha.
What is Chaitra Navratri 2026?
Chaitra Navratri is the spring one. It ran from 19 to 26 March this year and finished with Ram Navami. The nine goddesses are the same, but the festival centres on Rama rather than building towards Dussehra.
Is Navratri a public holiday in the UAE?
No, none of them are. Navratri, Ashtami and Dussehra all fall on ordinary working days here, and offices, schools and banks stay open throughout.
Where can I buy a chaniya choli in Dubai?
Meena Bazaar and the lanes around Al Fahidi in Bur Dubai have the widest range, with Karama Market as the cheaper option and the better one for children's outfits. Both sell dandiya sticks and oxidised jewellery, and both are picked over by the second weekend.
Can I go to garba in Dubai if I cannot dance?
Yes, and you will not be the only one. Every circle has beginners in it, so copy whoever is in front of you and the basic pattern will land within a few songs. Garba classes also run across Dubai through September if you would rather arrive prepared.
